I disagree. The Sopranos was way worse when it came to the dialogue of the Black characters.

The Wire was fine. Some of them were dumb. Others were smart. There was balance.

the wire writers werent as fukked up and racist as the sopranos writers were but im pretty sure both shows were written by white people exclusively

with that said i do remember reading about michael k williams saying they let him have a lot of input and direction with omar over time, but at first he was really mad about season 2 focusing on white people

and with sopranos the italians especially the mob and their wives come off the most ignorant and hypocritical. like that scene where some random white family gets carjacked and the father starts shouting the n-word, then they cut to tony admiring a photo of the car. writers for sopranos seemed to go out of their way sometimes in that regard... like what kind of a name is massive genius ? and the scene with christofuh and adrianna in the black burger restaurant?? i feel like he woulda got his ass kicked irl lol
