ha @ the snark.

Definitions clarify meaning. That's not arguing. It's an exchange in good faith. A preference/opinion can be tested, proven to be stupid, and discarded for personal growth. A preference that's provably stupid, yet held on to anyway because of ego...well, that explains itself.

So...kinda like trying to pick fights to no purpose, really.
So that means you personally cannot declare if somebody's preference is their principle unless they've told you they've tested it, yes?

Everyone should have standards! I'd argue social media is not set up for men to express them though. A guy having standards on weight is going to get clowned online, called ugly, etc.

And of course a lot of dudes are delusional when it comes to women so...
There is a whole trend of men doing this and they aren't getting clowned. People are laughing about it. If you look in the comments of those videos, you'll see that they are being supported by women for the most part.

I don't understand the lists. Everyone has preferences and dealbreakers, but this is so unattractive. It's kind of ironic because the people making these lists don't realize they're being cut because of the lists, lol. Just make the cuts in silence, don't respond to those who are on the cut list, and keep it moving. Announcing it like this just screams main character syndrome and a lack of self-awareness, which, for me, is a cut.

I’ll take your word for it. Question though: do you think that is representative of how shyt typically goes on social media when men express their standards?

I remember like 5 years ago it was common for men to say their wants and desires were unheard.

Now that it's common for men to be heard you want then to shut up?

Ya'll some vibe killers today. Lol

Huh? I didn't say anything about gender. I don't like these look at me and all the shyt I dont' like social media takes. I've been saying the same thing about everyone for the last decade. I think it's unattractive for anyone to do. It's not a gender thing, it's a who gives a fukk thing. I don't understand why people think their list is so important when everyone has a list. I just don't get it.

I think as @Malcolmxxx_23 stated most of this thread is out of touch with social media.

You guys are operating on an old paradigm. It is extremely common now for men to express their dating preferences.

Plus we know that probably 75% of the things that they said they would bend on for the right person. So it's not as serious as you guys are trying to make it. There's no reason to shame these guys or tell them to be quiet. It's not that deep.

We're actually just reacting to their posts, which is what they want right? No one is visiting their page and flaming them, so it's not shaming. We're engaging in their content via third party and not even directly. Like you said, it's not that deep.

Heh.

Anyone can declare anything. Just like the people in the OP babbling about "strict programs" like they just invented the wheel.

You said principles aren't created via testing (your word) ie experience but by "putting it out there"?

You're the one calling these declarations principles.

:mjlol:

Just trying to be contrarian for no particular reason just like I said you would.

You can react by shaming. The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive.

I’m not telling anyone to be quiet or shame them. Having standards is important and if we (society as a whole) had more, we’d be better off. And I’m basing my views off Twitter and Instagram where guys are regularly clowned for daring to have an opinion or standard on women.

I’m not talking about weird old dudes who rightfully get laughed at for declaring [insert rich woman celeb] is below their standards. I’m talking about guys who can’t say they want a fit woman without being accused of fat phobia/western beauty standards lol. That is still happening today.
