Just listened and this kinda str8.
Like i said before i like Ari's vocal tone a lot but her songwriting was always lakkin. Its still a bit weak but this project sounds a lot better than her previous projects.
Half of this is pretty good(BMO, Broke, title track, Speak to Me)... Some of this is still kinda
She b cussin too much tho but i fw her more than SZA's overrated non singing azz. She really really needs to work on her lyrics or get help cuz her shyt b real remedial/basic
Still waiting for HER to come crush the buildings

Never listened to anything by her before so I went into this with an open mind. I agree with everyone else the lyrics are lacking something serious. I liked a few songs but I kept finding myself thinking about how she wasted most of these beats.
Overall I hope the criticism reaches her and she responds well to it.

This isn't nearly as good as PHO was. Kinda underwhelmed. This and that Solange let me down as far anticipated follow-ups go.

The Badu comparison are only bc they have similar vocal tones...thats it
Ari needs someone to help her with lyrics for the next one if she wants to level up, her shyt b so surface level. J needs to pony up for some pro writers bc a lot of the production is very on point
The production and her voice makes this a very easy listen.

Hmm, I think she can make stronger songs, Pho is a prime example. But after watching her interviews, she enjoys being a little quirky, raunchy, the girl who knows she’s kinda ugly but is gonna b sexy anyway, so the songwriting on here is what I expect from her. I think because she has a certain a sound y’all are expecting her to serve up something that’s not who she is as a person. Definitely feel like some of y’all are downplaying this

Never saw this thread but came in to say Ari Lennox is the truth. She might not be were the hype is yet but she has the potential. Prince didn't make an all around good album until the 3rd one with Dirty Mind....Purple Rain wasn't till album 6 and the greatness of Sign Of The Times was album # 9.....So Ari has all the potential to reach greatness with time.
