I like Key & Peele. They're doing their own thing. I'm glad they're out there. Stop trying to keep "black" in a box. Let others express themselves in their very own way. That's REAL. If you're from the suburbs and like preppy/emo/rock stuff, that's fine. You're black and happen to like that kinda stuff, not black and trying to act white. We gotta let black people be themselves. This competition of trying to be "real" is bs. Just Be You. If they think you're corny, fuc em. Be You. I hate seeing young black people feel like they gotta be hyper-masculine or whatever to be accepted. You're black the end. Welcome to the club. DO whatever you want, just don't belittle your own people.

Black people love misery porn. And I get it for most of us it's easy to relate to at some degree. Even middle class blacks aren't generally that far from being removed from the hood. But gotdamn. that shyt needs to come to a stop. It's dumb. and forces us to be in a box. it's room out here for all of us to shine.

What Russell spoke on when he said even middle class has some ties to the hood is something I never peeped.

Let me ask ya those of you have successful people in your family/friends what is there relationship to the hood. And do they want to be considered a real nikka ? Whether they come from that environment or not.

I would never take Russell Simmons seriously on anything he talks about regarding black people....

He talk all that shyt about blacks not having the opportunities in Hollywood to make film, however he has the resources and finances unlike many African Americans to help fight Hollywood but he stays in his lane and only speaks out when doing urban interviews, but change his tone on the other networks

My uncle was the first person in my family to become a millionaire.

He grew up in the same house, in the same hood that his (half) brothers and sisters grew up in...but because he had a different father, a better father he got to go to private schools and lived a different life than his siblings even if it was right in the same space. Everybody else ended up in prison or on drugs.

I don't do this "you ain't black enough" shyt but he's definitely one of those cats that go hard to assimilate in to corporate culture/settings and customs and tries to distance himself from his upbringing. In some ways I understand...but everything is a double edge sword.

Fawk Vlad.
K&P and Aries are funny at times. Funny is funny, regardless of your parents' race
The "real and not real" black folks measurement shouldn't be based on your hood pass and hood roots.
-How many "real" rappers have made efforts to normalize degenerate behavior
-How many "real" black comedians have mention the difference between "black" and "white" versions of something, with the "black" version lacking morality, quality, and intelligence

Absolutely.
If the Vlad production is not enough reason to not watch/support the video, then this clown nikka Simmons should be.
That Harriet Tubman skit was just a recent reminder of his ways and most of these black entertainers.

These black entertainers' and politicians' limited talk and followup action towards the plight of black folks in their own industry, should remind us to support local and national efforts, that are willing take the backlash and consequences of addressing our issues. But unfortunately, we do the exact opposite, which suggest yet again the power of media conditioning

They are soft targets because they don't gain or benefit for going back at him. Let him have tried that shyt with Jamie Foxx or Kevin Hart.
How would he have been able to go at them if his whole argument was about them not being put on by a black audience first?

Not defending him I'm just saying that argument wouldn't even make sense for people like Jamie Foxx or Kevin Hart.

Not to mention he's already expressed his feelings towards Kevin Hart.
