“Revolvers to automatics, back to evolvers, nothing is static
Black b*stards, negro human laugh in the casket”
Still shouting out DOOM, even after his death.
“We lit up the night like Sodom and Gomorrah”
Then the Lord rained down sulfur and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah.
Nothing really wrong with the sequencing on their previous albums, but Alc’s seamless transitions are always gonna be special. That said, not too different from the type of production they rhymed over on Shrines, but I think the religious direction was easier to pick up on. In addition to visions of apocalypse, I caught the burning bush and the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. Plus, this is dropping during Lent when christians are forbidden to eat meat, such as pork, on Fridays. Following the optimism of Black Sunlight, the album ends in a place beyond forgiveness and disgrace in death. Elucid’s melodic flow on Stonefruit has the energy of perseverance to balance it out, but overall, I get the feeling of God giveth and God taketh away.
