Liz Taylor wins Nazi legal battle
Elizabeth Taylor has prevailed in a lawsuit that claimed a Van Gogh painting she owned was stolen from its rightful owner by the Nazis.
The descendants of a German-Jewish woman, Margarete Mauthner, filed a suit in a Los Angeles court last year, demanding that the painting be returned to them. They charged that the Nazis had taken the painting in 1939, after Ms Mauthner fled Germany for South Africa. US District Court Judge Gary Klauser dismissed the suit, citing California state law that only allows individuals to sue for up to three years after their property is taken.
