Too be honest they were an off brand version of Digable Planets.

I wouldn't compare them to digable at all breh, like somebody was saying, they were a more radio friendly/pop oriented brand nubian/conscious rap group after that type of content was being phased out of dominant.

In fact, I remember them kinda being seen as some kind of answer to gangsta rap or some shyt, like they had the niche cornered from lack of competition.

Tennessee was rooted in ADOS and some other tracks on first album.

They leaned to far into mythical Africa is one country and created some eutopia image and folks is living wrong in the USA by the second album. Obviously that's not gonna hold up in this modern USA where folks ain't insecure they are ADOS and did the heavy lifting of creating the USA.
