Messed up. Put on black celebrities that don't get shine on Fallon/Letterman. I DVR'd every show to give it support. But like some others are saying, the Nielsen system is fukked up for black people and I don't see us getting an accurate viewership count. I have never met someone with that damn Nielsen box.

2 men of color got cancelled because as long as you have culture vultures you don't need the urban hosts. Fallon doing the history of rap with Timberfake is a fukking embarrassment and I've seen brothas cosign that shyt. Arsenio was set up to fail and George Lopez is too mexican for them to feel safe, if he were more like Mario Lopez he'd still have his show.

Well...Here is where I disagree....Wendy did not have a "huge" non black following on her radio show......If she was doing it like that, she would have never got fired......

Wendy deals in mainstream gossip that appeals to the masses right now........Arsenio got canned for having Farrakhan on his show delivering a message to the black nation......He may have received this second chance as an experiment......

I have no idea

What I do know is that in the 90s(Arsenio's era), programming that catered to black thought and interests on a positive plane were highly successful......Post 2005, not so much...Can someone explain to me what has changed.....

the blacks and even some white people in those positions now.it's about ratings and who's the more popular people in the world today

if arsenio had the cast of love and hip-hop or real housewives of say beverly hills dude would still be on the air.. ratchetness and ignorant is more excepted today compared to the 90's

same as music.

What type of ratings black 90's sitcoms was getting back in the day? :dwillhuh:

A lot of black 90's sitcoms had 5 seasons run.
I know breh...Willl Smith, Living Single, Martin, ect.

I think, back then, more black people supported black shows so we sustained ourselves. That was when niiggas had the Malcom X hats and T-Shirts, HBCU sweatshirts and all that. Niiggas went out they way to support black. :ahh:

Now a days black people try to (intentionally) distance themselves a way from black things. I guess they don't want to be "reverse racists" or maybe they are committed to the c00n life. :ill:

In these times, VH1 and Bravo black drama/reality shows reign supreme. Nothing will ever top any of those type of shows soon, sadly.

To be honest,
It's sad that Monique, Lopez and now for a second time Arsenio's show got the boot. I supported them when they were on.

He wasn't quite his "former self" but he was safe and it was decent.

Like another posters said,
Arsenio show in the past put on for black music. Our culture or whatever you want to call it was thriving in sports, music and movies.

Our current culture is not like that today, and hip-hop is a former shell of its self. So yeah he did have a hard time fitting in this generation.

Black folks today besides sports watch drama/reality shows. Like a poster said on here....it's just entertainment. Take that good or bad, however you want.

Scust at the black actors and musicians he put on back then who didn't bless his show a second go around.
