"Been there, done that, story mirrors my own. The fact of the matter is that there is so much shame tossed at women for figuring out that we're more than what we've been brainwashed to believe. If we create a socieity where we tell women that their worth is wrapped up in what guy they marry, how nice their house it, and how perfect their children are while ignoring the idea that not all women are going to be good at being wives, mothers, or homemakers, we as a society are first damaging women and then punishing them for trying to crawl out of that damage.
I figured out in my early 20s that being married was not a life for me. I'm not good at it and frankly, it exasterbated my depression to the point where I was attempting suicide. But rather than understand that maybe, just maybe, another man coming into the picture and helping a woman with the confidence she needs to take control of her life and to SAVE HERSELF, we point fingers and say "shame! Shame on you for not being a stepford wife. How on earth could you cheat on a man?!" instead of asking a guy "why are you perpetuating this prision for your spouse and pushing her to the brink of death?" Perhaps we should have more compassion for women who realize their calling in life is to not be married."
