Charles and I have mutual friends and what I heard at that time was Jimmy Iovine wanted to sign him under the condition that he became more pop, like a Chance the Rapper or Anderson Paak, and Charles refused so they dropped him. His mental health began declining from there. Charles also ghostproduced and wrote Eminem’s Relapse album.

So is it blackballed if a major label chooses to invest in you and you don’t comply to what they ask? The same goes for Lupe. They had their opportunity and chose not to be apart of the system. And they’re well within their right and may have had great reason to but I don’t consider that being blackballed

The biggest issue with Charles Hamilton was he was his own worst enemy.

Beefing with his own label mates
Charles making up shyt that he was cool with J.Dilla and Mom Dukez
Charles not taking his mental health serious (His mom had to call the cops on him)
Him getting arrested for punching a cop.
Him not letting Intercope manage his vast body of music he had.
