BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
Some just didn't have the "look" or image that execs and AR's wanted and faded behind the scenes with a little bit of networking to become writers and producers. Some took their first check and cashed out after realizing it was no longer their passion to open up other venues and small businesses. I know a few from working as an AR when I was younger.

She didn’t. Fact is she came through & dropped a bigger banger. Coupled with the fact she had already been one of that eras more popular groups. People just always need a reason to explain why someone didn’t blow up. Sometimes it’s as simple as the public at large didn’t rock with you.

Beyonce stole her sound breh

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Why were these individuals black balled?

Amarie was on the same label as Beyonce and JLo. They always prioritized their music over hers.

But the real kicker is Amarie's producer. They essentially blew up together. Her producer created a unique sound, and Amarie's music had a lot of DC Go Go influence.

Eventually, her producer was in high demand, other artist started created similar music. He produced for Beyonce.

Then the copycatting got worse.

Then Beyonce created an entire album biting Amarie's style

Amarie wanted off her label.

Then she had a falling out with her producer.

To put things into perspective, Amarie wanted this the be the first single off her 2nd album, but the label didn't like it and didn't support it. Amarie had to promote it herself.

Eventually, it got a buzz, and the label started pushing it. J Lo tried to steal the song, but it was already blowing up on the radio, so the label told J Lo nope.

But they didn't stop J Lo from making a carbon copy

:mjlol:

Amarie was a victim of coming out with her own style and sound, that everybody wanted. But she wasn't big enough in the eyes of the music industry.

They were intelligent enough to understand their true worth and wouldn’t compromise their integrity for fame.

^THIS^

No longer should an artist ever let themselves be considered that. As long as you can release your art to an outlet you have a choice and that is all the comfort you need.
