The knock on Hamilton was that he was a lame. At the time he came out there was an attempt to open up the game to lames, but not as lame as he was. And he proved over and over again that he was exceedingly lame.

Most of the artists named weren't blackballed per say, they just had missteps. Or they were out competed, or didn't have the work ethic. And the industry wasn't quite as open as it is now. The industry would have a few priority artists and everyone else had to get in where they fit in. Those second and third string artists would start feeling a type way because they weren't priority and make it seem like priority artists were stopping their shine. When it's just how the times were then. It wasn't quite microwave as it is now where hundreds of artists can shine at the same time.
