I feel tha overall sentiment of your post but this ain't true. Tha south helped to usher in two eras of funk with James brown and isaac hayes, tha former artist building tha foundation for hip hop, along with fellow southerner Muhammad Ali, and Chattanooga drummer clyde stubblefield. Not to mention southern acts like tha commodores and tha sos band, holding down tha r&b genre in tha 70s and 80s. From tha late 80s till after tupac died ny had to share tha hip hop spotlight with tha west coast. Funny thing is ny nikkas called west coast cats country back then in tha 80s cuz they wore curls and flannel shirts.1960’s to the early 2000’s the urban North had a monopoly on what was considered new, Black, and cool.

genuinely far worse than their Northern counterparts.
