As a Puerto Rican I honestly do not see why we have a parade

that sounds dope tho' like a intellectual rally maybe some poets from the new yorkrican cafe or something and music ...fukk it make it more of a music festival than a meaningless parade wasting all that government money.....

same way i feel about the west indian day parade. instead of showcasing west indian poets, artists, history, etc year after year they just have a bunch stank fat women in skimpy costumes humping each other in the hot sun to shytty music and nikkaz beefing. 95% percent of the people who attend have no idea about the region's history or culture and just leave with the impression that west indians are all about wining and curry chicken. but like someone said above it's up to the organizers to change the format but from what i've heard they make a shytload off the way it is currently so i doubt it would change anytime soon.

There were enough Puerto Ricans who wanted to have a parade.
It's not stupid at all.
Where I live, there's a Christmas parade in December. It's totally stupid. High school bands, Miss <local town> winner, bunch of dumb vintage cars, other clubs/organizations with a spot in the parade, and a float with a fake Santa Claus. It just hogs up a main street for a couple of hours.
