As A Rapper, Tell Me What Does Wale Lack?

He doesn't make enough "ignorant" music in order to be popular. But doesn't really present enough substantive material to really make you think. He's stuck in this rap purgatory. Good enough not be wack, yet not good enough to get into that top tier.

Yea i noticed he does kinda slur his words at times. Kinda hard to understand what he says at times.

I can't deal with his flow, his delivery never comes together with his production so it's hard for me to get into his music. Always "on top" of the beat, staggering over his lyrics. Ends up sounding robotic. I've tried to feel his shyt but it aint workin

That's not true, not many are seeing him lyrically...Ya'll may not agree but he just doesn't have a marketable look and he doesn't dress like a weirdo. He can rap and he can make a songs but he doesn't look enough like a fukk boy to cater to white consumers.
I love this joint and you cant deny his lyrical ability....I think dude idolize Jay and he does those same corny noises and voice inflections Jay does that I actually hate a lot of times when Jay does it....But Jay is Jay and he's cool enough to pull it off....Wale wants to be considered one of the best lyricist which I respect but maybe that's not neccesarily his strong suit...I think dude should work on making his words touch people on a emotional level more,music people can really feel

...He has music like this and a lot of it is dope from what ive heard,not all but a lot...Maybe if he worked on mastering that he has a higher ceiling....as a lyricist I think his ceiling is only so high due to other tangibles he DOESNT have.I think he's much more built to approach the game from the angle of a Scarface,Cube,Pac...he seems to look at things on a deep level from interviews ive seen+music and he's obviously emotional
...being the best lyricist aint necessarily the best route for every rapper to take and certainly aint the only path to greatness...he should rethink his path imo,as hard as it is to argue with results since he sold more the less soulful he got.
He's an above average lyricist, but he's not in the elites with guys like Kendrick or Cole either.
Personally I always just got the feeling that Wale was working with too little material most of the time. Does he rap about anything other than broads, lust and sex? That's why I don't really appreciate him as a top rapper, although I acknowledge his gift; his poetry's touching.
he isn't selling like drake or kanye but he never had a issue selling records outside of his debut.
