Im a Wale fan and I know what you're saying. But his lyricism on The Body is top notch. The wordplay is ridiculous:
I love this joint and you cant deny his lyrical ability....I think dude idolize Jay and he does those same corny noises and voice inflections Jay does that I actually hate a lot of times when Jay does it....But Jay is Jay and he's cool enough to pull it off....Wale wants to be considered one of the best lyricist which I respect but maybe that's not neccesarily his strong suit...I think dude should work on making his words touch people on a emotional level more, music people can really feel

...Get that top notch soulful production.

...He has music like this and a lot of it is dope from what ive heard, not all but a lot...Maybe if he worked on mastering that he has a higher ceiling....as a lyricist I think his ceiling is only so high due to other tangibles he DOESNT have.
I think he's much more built to approach the game from the angle of a Scarface,Cube,Pac...he seems to look at things on a deep level from interviews ive seen+music and he's obviously emotional

...being the best lyricist aint necessarily the best route for every rapper to take and certainly aint the only path to greatness...he should rethink his path imo,as hard as it is to argue with results since he sold more the less soulful he got.
