As A Rapper, Tell Me What Does Wale Lack?

idk when i hear wale i feel like hes trying too hard. don't get me wrong i really like a lot of his shyt, but sometimes i don't wanna hear a rap that sounds like the guy put too much effort into it. i wanna hear an effortless flow

i remember liking wale when he rapped over that justice dance beat. i could tell he was trying but he was new and that's good he was trying. i still think he doesn't get enough respect, but that's just why i don't listen to him too often

All great songs, IMO.

Outside of enunciating his words better in certain situations, he has pretty much everything down pat. I honestly think many people (at least in the coli) can't separate their personal feelings about him from his music.

-The beats are on point.

-He uses many flows

-He has a lot of songs in which his delivery is on point.

-Subject might be his only weakness really, but a lot of people like here Stan rappers that either rap about the same thing they've rapped about since they got on, or rappers that rap about nothing of importance in the grand scheme of things so I don't see why people go in on wale.

The Gifted should've sold way more than it did.

Hes not a horrible rapper. He just doesn't have anything about him that I seem to care about or can't get musically from another artist.

He's not up there with J Cole as far as substance yet he just doesn't have the rapper appeal someone like Meek Mill does. That is how you end up with his lead single having Lady Gaga on it and collectively everyone not caring enough when she was her most popular.

I fukks with Wale, its his popularity compared to other rappers. Sure he needs to be more direct and "hunger" fueled in his raps, but overall he is good and deserves more. I put him above j.coal tho imo
