I'm not saying everyone in those in countries follow salafism/wahabhism but a sizeable minority do, and they happen to be the loudest and most active t, they often consider themselves as "true" Muslims and many are unlnowny subscribing to their ideology through Saudi funded islamic education. Most terrorist groups, from alqaeda to isis has salafi/ wahabhism ideology at their core. Somalia shabab has salafi/Wahhabi roots, and are brainwashing many poor Somalis to join their cause. It's a cancerous spread that is being accelarated by poverty and oil money. With Pakistan, the way I see it, most middle class and the rich subscribe to moderate/apolitical sects of and but they are a minority. Most of the poor now follow salafism through free education program's, these are the people blowing themselves up in the name of Islam and are being recruited by terrorist organisations. If you want a clearer picture of this problem, read this article.I agree with the Saudi funded spread of Salafism. But Somalia is majority sufi breh. Salafism is a new phenomenon there (like much of the rest of the world). Pakistan is also traditionally Sufi and even has a significant Shia population.
