Too bad fukker.

Religion itself is the problem.

You don't get to skate by pretending to be a moderate as if you're not as delusional as the rest of them.
Like all militant athiest keyboard warriors, you ignore the complexity and nuance of a religion with hundreds of sects and school of thoughts whilst regurgitating the same old simplistic rhetorics. I'm not defending islam as agnostic, but I'm tired of you pseudo intellectuals claiming shyt you haven't even studied thoroughly enough to make an educated inference. Islam lacks central authority unlike Christianity which I guess is a double edge sword. Read about the tradition of itijihad. I still think Islam and all religions are false, but just because I know this doesn't mean I can't appreciate the positive aspect of religions and it's influence on civilisation.

False. There is no nuance. Its all bullshyt.

All of it.

who gives a shyt? All religions splinter off into little factions to defend their subjective views of religion. TO hell with all of islam.

How much of islam do you think I know? Or don't know? huh?

Do you think everyone online is as unaware as you are?

Theres no positive influence to be acknowledged by me, in that you don't need religion to do anything religion claims to be a proponent of.

...teachers tought Arabic but also taught islamic philosophy and the nuances of the Quran and hadeeths, lessons were centred on interpretation and context of quran revelation and philosophy. For example our teachers would recite a verse talking about "killing the infidels" and would explain the context of these verses being in wars and self defence against malevolent judeo christian tribes at the times of the prophet and how in peaceful times, Muslims are obligated to respect and foster healthy relations with other faiths, backed by verses in the Quran and hadeeths.

For the Life of me i dont understand why such an understanding is lacking. It would seem that anyone who is at all sincerely interested could come to this. I guess that may be the problem - people arent sincerly interested in learning to discover what a text is trying to convey. Perhaps some people are just interested in obeing authority, "being right" and joining some group instead.

Now if people were TRULY educated on what it means to "Know-how-to-read-certain-text" some of the foolishness may be reduced. For, You cannot just pick up a novel and read it the same way you'd read poetry. OR read the Bible (Quran, Gita, Sutras etc..) the same way you'd read the news paper - yet this is what I see from several people i've encountered.

(HOW TO READ A BOOK: by Mortimer J. Adler is a great place to start, IMO)
