You disagree about Lupe's lyrical content having far more depth and complexity?

You really shouldn't. Because it's obvious. Eminem has the edge in multi-syllabic rhyming. And while Lu's flow is great, I'd probably give Em the edge in that too due to difficulty leveling of flowing well with such intricate rhyme schemes, but that's about it. Every other aspect of rapping Lupe is better at by a WIDE margin.

Lupe Fiasco

C'mon brehs. Let's be really real.

lupe fiasco content isn't talking about anything that hasn't been talked about before

the only thng lupe fiasco really has which is his bread and butter is his metaphors and wordplay it's cleverness people like about him
and cleverness and which u got to decode his lyrics

is his content better then em no but his cleverness yes.

Once again, there was more to Em than just being great at multi's, he's still great at multi's and he sucks now. Em's mic presence, charisma & just overall entertainment level puts him in a whole other stratosphere to the rappity rappers like Elzhi :comeon:

"rappity rap" is a really annoying term used to dumb down the immense skill it takes to craft lyrically and emotional deep songs breh.

A lot of dummies would consider Eminem rappity rap, so it's surprising you're using that term to DEFEND him.

Overall entertainment level is subjective. I don't find him to be very entertaining at all because I'm not a fan of twisted fairy tales which makes up a big bulk of his discography. I like "Superman", "Stan", "Lose Yourself" Em.

The man who made "Unforgivable Youth", "Put You On Game", "Beautiful Lasers", "Coulda Been", "The Coolest", "Hurt Me Soul", and "Strange Fruiition" is lacking in content now.

Alright breh. To each their own I guess.

Depth and complexity can manifest themselves in different ways
outside of Metaphors and word play.

Dudes like Black Thought, Eminem and Elzhi have exhibited
schemes and rhyming styles that are beyond what Lupe
displays.
With Elzhi easily matching dudes like Lupe and Eminem
with his own witty out of the box concepts, complex
inner rhyme and the ability to weave narratives.

It's not really subjective when the artist in question is a superstar entertainer, Lupe is a nobody, even in the black community(in before em is white) because he lacks charisma, boring rapper.

I've said that Eminem has more complex rhyme schemes than Lupe though. That's obvious. All I ever said regarding that is Lu is no slouch in that regard either even if he's no Eminem.

When I refer to depth and complexity, I'm not just talking about complex metaphors, triple entendres or fancy wordplay. Those things on their own are just as empty as fancy rhyme schemes. It's the ability to use these talents to craft songs with substance that says something. I believe the best rappers do this, and I feel Lupe has done it longer, better and more consistently than anyone else. It's the primary reason I feel he's the best.

Speaking of rapping, what's been up with your artistic journey? I haven't heard from you since the SOHH days. Feel free to drop a PM if you have any new content or updates.

I like Lupe but he lacks in areas like for example Rhyme Schemes.
He often has simple schemes but in between that he'll put in
metaphors and punches or he'll keep the lyrics simple but
have an overall theme to the record like Sunshine vs. Daydreamin'
which is what makes him exceptional imo.

Lupe's a really great rapper but looking at the other exceptional
talent in Hip Hop he definitely falls short in other aspects of rapping
in both areas such as writing/flowing.

And if we were switch the conversation from just being about technical
wizardry I feel there are several talents who have shown consistency
at the same level Lupe has with a number of them having careers
that started over a decade ago.

I do agree that Eminem lacks when it comes to extended metaphors
and weaving complex word play, I feel dudes like Killah Priest, Jay-Z, Skyzoo, Lupe Fiasco and The GZA definitely trump him in that aspect of rhyming. I'd even say they all have projects that are either comparable to Eminem's major label releases or in some cases outdo them.

Haven't recorded anything lately, been real busy
I'm hoping to get back to that soon though.

Relapse is one of the best albums I've heard for a long time. I appreciated the rappity rap of it from the start, but once I understood the concept of the album...yeah, he went nuts.

shyt old em? That Westwood freestyle he did in 09 for relapse was one of the illest shyts he ever did...that "microphone" freestyle he was spittin crazier than ever...when it comes to just spittin there's very few that can hang...only the elite

Relapse era Em was dope. Dont forget that BET chypher freestyle. His writing on Relapse was crazy. But till this day I have never witness a decline is lyricism, flow, beat selection, and creativity. Like I did from Relapse to Recovery.

i understand if you "normal" people dont "get it" by normal i mean dumb as fukk its not that difficult to follow... and thats why EM dumbed his shyt down on recovery becuse he was frustrated that people couoldnt decipher it.. he wasnt mad at the album but that it went over everyones heaad

Recovery over Food & Liquor II? I'd say only a hardcore stan would have that point of view, but then again, you would say the same to me wouldn't you? So no point in talking about that :pachaha:

Outside of cats that are already bonafide legends i probably stan lupe almost as hard as you, i only really listen to strange fruition and form follows function from FNL2. IMO both albums are mediocre, but off the top i probably like more songs from recovery. Production wise it would get the nod as well.

Point is to be so much better than em...even while he's clearly :flabbynsick: their last two albums don't really reflect that.

Its crazy, i forgot how nasty dude could be cause of his recent shyt, specifically recovery. Just cringe worthy shyt. Even relapse which i liked aside from the accent seems like an eternity ago, and its only been what, 4 yrs?
