so because other places experiences "extreme poverty" poverty over here is what, somehow better. You saying people should be happy with American level poverty?

The difference is the mindset. The locals were completely happy. Didn't mind living like that. They didn't worry about having the nicest clothes, drive a Benz or wine and dine in fancy restaurants like us Americans want.

As long as they had family around, simple food, water and a roof over their head, they were good.

Well yeah, when you start seeing not having homeless people around as a luxury item....that's kinda what happens. I get it both ways, but I ain't built like that, and truthfully if you are scared of the locals you shouldn't buy in that area.

Really impressed by this discussion. I was expecting a bunch of complaining, but people were contributing possible solutions and highlighting how this is a problem across the country.

I don't think there is a solution, unless laws are past.

I think people should be treated humanely, but once you become homeless I think you should lose your right to decide where you lay your head.
So many homeless people don't like shelters and prefer to live on the streets because they don't like the rules of the shelters. You could open a ton of shelters, but they won't go. So they should be forced to and their only way out of the shelter would be to get a job and a place to live, rehab from their addictions, and receive treatment for their mental illnesses.

There are some people who just fell on hard times and became homeless, but a lot of them did not function well in society and it was only a matter of time before they became homeless.

San Francisco has always had a homeless problem and I think they will fix them, but I am so saddened by what has happened to Oakland. Homeless people have taken over so many sidewalks in Oakland and Oakland can't afford to tackle it the way San Francisco can.

The other crazy part is if they push them off the streets, many go into the hill side forests and shrub...stir in some dry windy conditions.....and another wildfire.

Didn't they blame one of the big ones a year ago on homeless encampments?

It won't get better until the societal problems that caused it is fixed. More and more people will be homeless soon breh
It's not as if there aren't enough shelters to go around...or that there isn't enough food to go around...it's just homelessness is a result of artificial scarcity with housing due to...
Wealthy inequality, lack of living wages, less jobs and housing market

Those just a few but those are some major factors

America gonna look weird in 20 years. More and more people can't afford to live here
I'm seeing it in Denver.

NYC was bad with homelessness, but there are the homeless tent cities here...and they are just growing in volume.

Meanwhile the division between the haves and the have nots grows deeper.

2 pages in I see everythang but tha real issue being posted

What will fix homelessness is tha american government getting rid of spending tax dollars to fund their military and actually using it to get rid of poverty. That's 639 billion dollars (idc if it's not all tax money for whoever wanna come in and say it's not all tax money, ima save you from wasting yo time and looking stupid.)

That could be going to everybody. But mfs wanna drive this white stocc up and support this system (that go for mexicans, asians, white folks) cuz even with some of yall people fucced up, overall yall still benefit from it. :yeshrug:

And i wont be responding to no quotes tryna deter my view, or anybody feeling some type of way bout this shyt

In the past week or so, I've met at least three black women in shelters waiting to be placed into apartments. The shelters are disgusting. But these are hard working girls with kids, so at least they'll be placed somewhere. I know several black men (illegal economy) who make money but literally can't get nobody to take it, been technically homeless for years.

Where we lived in Harlem, there was a small encampment on the corner. They were the older, friendly drunk types, didn't cause no trouble, but the wp hated that shyt. We were nice cuz we hood folk, so we get it. Several gave their condolences when my mil passed cuz she used to bring them plates for Thanksgiving and stuff.

This is a fukked up situation. I'm seeing several generations of mostly ados living and growing up homeless, and you got nikkas in here shytting on them. :rudy:

Outta curiosity, I keep hearing seeing this phrase but what does it mean? Not being obtuse, just generally curious as to what a homeless breaking point represents because ive no remote clue.

DC is a bit more tolerant but as newer residents:mjpls: infiltrate the city i'm starting to hear that same phrase

The Purge, breh. It's about to go down.
