It's not a rage quit. it's a i am wasting my keystrokes because this person lacks reading comprehension and keeps trying to twist what I'm saying because he can only discuss one aspect of the women's movement quit. Also, I am academic who conducts scholarly research.
Finally when you said distancing you are implying that I'm trying to dismiss them which never did. The other things you quoted supported my argument that the women's movement like other movements had different facet, with different arguments and strategies that made up the entire movement.
As far as citing things and having grieves with feminism, I said that I didn't agree with the stance on sex (it takes away women's agency). What else do you want me to say? My argument was about simple posters on the board who talk about feminism everyday as if they know what the hell they are talking about. If you want to know more I will send your ass a syllabus with plenty of citations. However like i told marcuz in another thread, i am not about to be searching, copying, and pasting outside stuff when i am on my ipad bc it is tedious. Will that make you happy?
Also I'm not a damn feminist; therefore me saying anything "hateful" has no reflection or bearing on feminism. So what the hell are you talking about?
You seem
awful defensive over feminist ideology for someone that doesn't identify as a feminist and spends as much alleged time as you do studying the subject. You also seem to assume quite a bit about people that disagree with you on the subject.
I think that the people that formed the foundation of feminism (those that I quoted plus many, many more) combined with the idea that the patriarchy (things that are male and masculine) is the source of society's ills while feminism (things that are female an feminine) is the solution to these problems is completely slanderous and the manipulation of the language in such a way is something that lends me to believe that feminism is something that I just can't cosign with. Language is one of the strongest determinants of a culture, and by manipulating the language like that, it's a pretty slick way to subliminally get people to hate men and get them to just immediately assume that men are the problem.
In addition, there are quite a few feminist leaders that have had
quite a bit of choice words for men in general. Am I supposed to let all of that go just because there are other feminists that say otherwise? These women were some of the biggest leaders of the movement. In fact, women like Camille Paglia, a moderate feminist, was figuratively excommunicated from the movement just for stepping out of line with the rest of the leaders.
Gender egalitarianism? Sure. In fact, I'm for women's rights all across the board. I'm on board with that, but when feminism
claims to care about men by paying lip service via obscure blog (while still blaming men for their own problems by saying that it's "patriarchy" and "rape culture") while doing nothing else to remedy the harms incurred by men as a result of unfair gender roles, and in some cases fight legislation to help men, or in some cases fight for legislation that hurts men, it causes me to think that it's hateful.
Now in light of
all of those things, I don't see why I
should think of feminism as anything besides a hate movement. Rape culture? Patriarchy? Are you kidding me? How is this
not a hate movement? These are pretty strong words to be associating men with on a regular basis. How am I supposed to believe that these people have my best interests at heart and would fight for me if I was suffering as a result of gender roles somehow?
