I finished up SMB3DW. Is that Windwaker HD remake really worth it? I actually never played the OG (I typically don't like Zelda games) :lupe:

The reviews for mh3u sorta miss the point that it's not of this world. It's a must cop, but it's waaaay different to anything you played. Rewards patience and investment though. I love it.

:ld:Question for you. Is there multiplayer? Do I have to play 1-2 before I play 3 to be good? Is it the same type of combat as Wonderful 101?

Thing is not everybody is into Mario and Donkey Kong and the aesthetics of those games.

I would like to see Nintendo:
remake the Mother trilogy
Metroid (Hell even a remake or re-imagining of Super Metroid or a reboot of the series)
Sin & Punishment
Basically utilize the IPs that they have other than Mario and Donkey Kong, and not try to corner themselves in the casual/kids market.

Multiplayer is co-op and it's excellent. I never played 1-2. Certain core aspects remind me of RE4's inventory management on acid.

The combat is unusual in that it is realistic: you swing, and you're vulnerable for the duration of the animation, so you kind of pick your spots. Like SF2-4, you begin to recognise frames which can be cancelled into a roll for optimum use of the attack. But you're also responsible for keeping your weapon sharp and for eating to maintain stamina.

It's weird and def pulls no punches but I enjoy it. The natural inclination is to mash the attacks because that's what hack n slash games have taught us. You'll see.

Never played TW101 so that's something to look forward to lol

If enough fans purchase this classic F Zero game, Nintendo may finally make a new one for the Wii U, so that's something to think about.

I bought that donkey kong country returns game for the Wii and I liked it, but it was boring to play it single player, which is why I considered getting Ultimate Monster Hunter 3 instead. Plus I saw on the ign game review that Donkey Kong is really hard. While I don't mind the difficulty, I don't know if I have time to put a lot of time into the game right now with the backlog of ps3 games I have.

:lupe:All this talk about Monster Hunter 3, I may have to pick it up. I'll check them reviews.

It's weird. I bought monster hunter last Friday night, played with a couple cats here online. This is a game that has had me neglecting homework. Staying up an hour or 2 longer when I should go to bed...it's just that fun, it's challenging and I can't describe it, it's technical. I know I'm playing on a very basic level one because I'm still getting into it and feeling it out but I haven't mixed/combined items, changed weapons, upgraded weapons or armor. It's wild. It's not one of those things where your forced to, but you want to because you want your character to be the shyt.

Best $23 I've spent in a long time

Mh3u and w101 are my two most played games. I love both games but they play nothing alike.

Mh3u after the introductory missions is basically a game with nothing but boss battles. Hard ass boss battles. The weapon you choose will affect the way you play. Light weapon, spam and dodge. Heavy weapon (my preference) slow attacks, more calculated, more damage. You also need to make sure you have the right Armour and items before each job cause it makes a major difference. Like dude said, it's technical but very very addictive. I had to stop playing cause it was eating up too much of my time. Multiplayer is online, co-op, not competative, it's very easy to find a match and most players are happy to help new players level up. I never played 1 or 2 but picked it up pretty quickly. It's slower paced than an action game which might put some people off but it makes every move and strike much more important and towards the end of every job you are really feeling like, "i have to kill this muthafukking monster if its the last thing i do". Like I said, very addictive

W101 is straight action. Probably the most pure action game I ever played. It's all about mastering the controls and power ups. At first it can be a little overwhelming and even frustrating but once it clicks its a whole different feel. It takes a little longer to pick up but once you do it is very rewarding. When you are pulling off major combos and tearing through enemies without getting touched you really feel like a boss. People often say the right stick is easier to draw with, for me I use a combination of right stick and screen depending on the attack I'm using. I love the little (and not so little) references to past Platinum and Nintendo games. All in all, I'm currently on 101 difficulty and loving it. Multiplayer is local, and competing for highest score. It's good if you have someone skilled to play with

But yeah, these games play nothing alike but are both very addictive for different reasons.

Between these two, Pikmin 3, Windwaker HD and NSMBU (which I really hated at first but grew to love when trying to get all the star coins), I haven't even had a chance to try SM3DW or DKTF. And with MK8 just around the corner I'm really not sure when I will even have a chance to get to them.
