Not saying they had zero engineers. But they had zero in my location (at my last job). Current job has one infrastructure guy and a email list we basically email for issues. It's all about consolidation.

Virtual over here but it's only a matter if time.

You're already using cloud computing for your servers.

It doesn't mean its necessary a hosted platform, but its technically cloud computing nonteheless

Sorry breh, cloud too strong:francis:

Yeah, I should have been more clear.

Satellite offices can exist void of engineers due to cloud computing. I was moreso talking on the corperate level someone has to be monitoring something from your companies side. Microsoft, Amazon, Meraki, HP, etc will host your shyt, but they wont run your company for you

all that cloud replacing engineers stuff only applies to small to midsize companies. Aint no enterprise level organization EVER gonna put all their shyt in the cloud. they want their main infrastructure and engineers on site at all times.

Good. I like virtual servers. Get a pool of storage data, a server to manage it and create partitions along with some virtual software and :noah: no more quarterly maintenance inventory checks.

Virtual clients for all the users. :noah: no more hardware upgrades outside beefing up the virtual server they all connect to :noah:

More time to browse thecoli while everyone panics doing their jobs :skip:

Until your host dies, or you lose some drives in your raid :sas2:

Then your engineers come thru in the clutch like :cape:

You mean I'm coming through in the clutch.

We can afford to lose a drive or 2 at the same time. Virtual machines all backed up daily so the whole shyt could crash and we'd be down a day tops.

Back in the day companies had to mirror email servers to have a backup, now with virtual it don't matter what happens. Lose a partial day of email :manny: and be up the same or next day. It's Nothin. We to redundant.
