Oh I understand that everyone wants more.
But I don't like them making their political come up ON OUR BACKS.
If they want to start their own civil rights organizations and movements...more power to em....but going out and getting a law degree, than just stepping up to the plate for blacks.....we need to be weary of this shyt.
Hmongs got THE worst high school drop out rate in the nation. Many Laotians and Cambodian communities in the U.S. got hella high incarceration rates. Some of my Cambodian girlfriends from high school are still serving time. I'm not even gonna discuss the issues with Pacific Islanders but their youth organization and community mobilization in the west coast is admirable. Not all Asians are the wealthy, "model minority" type anyway
If you know Hmong or Cambodian people, you know what I'm talking about.
That's very true, people will assume that since they're Asian they must be wealthy and educated, but they face the same hardships as other minorities. I don't know if you've ever seen Gran Torino but it's a decent representation of that.Hmongs got THE worst high school drop out rate in the nation. It will be interesting to see what happens with all the Burmese refugees they have been bringing in in about 10-15 years.
Problem with discussing Pan Asian Am activism in the U.S. is that most folks in the U.S. think that Asian Ams are just Chinese and Indian, and think no help is needed, but the groups that need the most help are lumped in there with the model minority groups and get silenced or left out of the process.

They voted for Obama at a higher rate than Latinos.
I guess republicans will stop calling them "model minority" anymore![]()
It doesn't work like that...
Those groups don't need help, they just need to emulate the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Indians, etc.

Whites were legit pissed off at Asians after the 2012 election. "How can you do this to us? You're supposed to be the model minority?".
The same reason any other group can't just "emulate Asians". Chinese immigrants, for instance, generally have money or connections when they come here, the same isn't true for Lao immigrants. A lot of the Southeast Asian immigrants in general are here as refugees, to my understanding. Why not?
Well, Republicans often use the "Asian-Americans are successful, why can't you beWhat are you basing that on? Or are you just making shyt up like always?
" line against black people, and when Asians vote overwhelmingly against the GOP, it makes them look kind of stupid.Well, Republicans often use the "Asian-Americans are successful, why can't you be" line against black people, and when Asians vote overwhelmingly against the GOP, it makes them look kind of stupid.
So would you apply this to all minorities? The fact that Asians voted overwhelmingly for Democrats still doesn't disprove Republicans point that the success of Asians in America shows that hard work and education are more important than skin color.
But anyway, Robbie was just making shyt up. I don't know any Republican that got pissed at Asians because of who they voted for.
