Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
NYC's subway system is way too old and dirty to have such things. The entire system would need to be renovated and refurbished but that would require the system to shut down for years and would cost a HUGE amount of money.

So yeah, it's not happening (at least not anytime soon).

That’s not an excuse to have screens but if NYC trains didn’t have all these different lengths and widths putting up a screen would be a very good addition to the subway.

the entire IRT (number trains) can definitely have screens since the IRT is the only portion of the subway that always had consistent matching lengths for their trains for nearly their entire existence. The subway could use the IRT lines as a pilot program for those screens.

Trains in NYC aren't uniform. It wouldn't work.

"the trains aren't uniform"
So use different designs for different stations. :comeon: They still find a way to build platforms and make the trains run with all different kinds of trains don't they?

the platforms is where i envision you'd place the dividers end to end on each platform??

edit

i see your point....the doors placement would have to vary or at the very least be sliding doors that would have a space large enough for all trains.

:dahell:

How you going to do that if trains like The A and E train or Q , N, R trains share platforms?

:what:

That’s why I said the number trains should actually do this because the IRT lines are the only trains that actually are 100% uniform.

The only letter trains that this can work on is the J,Z and L trains since those trains don’t run with other trains and are mostly independent.

What we used to always do have free government ran mental institutions to isolate them from society and care for them and if possible rehabilitate them. What do we do with the terminally ill?, the elderly?, orphans?

Same concept but apply proper funding, regulation, and pay for the workers that would make it happen

In a nutshell TRY to give a fukk
You are naive
those mental asylums were even worse than jails
Patients would get chemically castrated and bound to beds

the effort to care for them is completely different than terminally ill or elderly
