Aside from Eminem, is Jay-Z the biggest global rap star?

As much as I dislike that larry holmes impersonator, 50 Cent was right when he said Jay-Z is not as big outside of the US as he is in it. People don't really check for him like that over here in the UK. That personification of the american dream marketing doesnt really translate well overseas. For example, Kanye is easily way more popular here than Jay-Z ever was.

Sad to say but even Wayne is more popular over here than Jay is.

Went to a festival 2 years ago and he didn't even get the headline spot

:leon: Which festival?
I know he headlined Glastonbury, not only the biggest festival in the Europe but in the world.
And that was 5 years ago, his fame has increased exponentially since then.

:russ: No. The UK went mental when his album dropped and those ads aired.

T In The Park, he headlined Glasto years ago, wanted a rap artist for the first time obviously Eminem wasn't about and at the time there probably wasn't anyone else that big available.

BTW Nas sold out all those venues too

@ Euro slut

If 50 cent is right why does Kay have EIGHTEEN shows in Europe coming up all arena tours? Not to mention 8 shows in the uk and five in London alone. To say people aren't feeling someone who can sell out (yes this tour is sold out) 5 shows in a 15k capacity arena in one city is a flat out lie. Are you buy any chance rockin g unit sneakers in 2013?

LEEDS/NEWCASTLE/SHEFFIELD/BIRMINGHAM

These are not London why are they in brackets. Nas sold out I think 4 UK arenas, imagine how many dates Em would have to have

Jay does it multiple times in multiple cities, in one country.
And he does it often.

I see that he wasn't one of the 3 biggest stars at the festival Muse, Eminem and Kasabian, he was #4-6 with BEP & The Prodigy.
I don't know why he would have to be bigger than 2 of the biggest rock bands from UK in modern times at a rock concert in the UK to be "more popular" than Lil Wayne in the UK. Are you implying that Wayne would headline over a band like Muse?

And lol @ you actually living in the border to the Scottish highlands :dead:.

I live in London it was a 5 day festival don't have to live right next door.

And no actually BEP and The Prodigy Headlined the 2nd stage, Jay was on Stereophonics levels (good band btw)

didn't Wayne sell out stadiums in Aus? or was that with Eminem I cant remember, I cant stand wayne
