like why would somebody be told not eat pork, because some deity thinks its wrong? or maybe because some community leader saw a bunch of people getting sick back in the day, due to pigs being fed all manner of disgusting shyt and spreading diseases as a result?

The life and times of organizing tribes of people, back when:

Pigs are thirsty creatures and must be cooked well or their flesh can be fatal. Two things that don't serve the intent of those dwelling in the desert as they roll that way and this. Same with Hindus who venerate the cow because they are farmers which means they can either slit the golden goose (calf?) for the burger (or egg) vs keep it living to till the fields and provide milk. Both easier to implement in the collective if the boss playa says...

I'd be willing to bet that most prohibitions of any type make sense with context but modern humans running around with ancient wetware will never not be crazy.

It was a joke!
idk about this breh…we know there are sound waves humans can’t perceive and spectrums of light humans can’t perceive, so can reality really be based on our limited perception?…
Let's say we're able to perceive them somewhere along the line, what's next?

Empiricism by itself would be the equivalent of plain oats made with water, I concede that. Religion on the other hand is like cornflakes with added sugar, which is better?

I'm man enough to admit I'm as "narrow minded" as an atheist as I was when I was religious, just with different contexts

I just can't find a reason to believe in anything intangible like that

Who created the universe?

You did, when you were born, and when you pass, which will hopefully not be until a long time, it'll end :manny:

i’m not advocating for religion at all breh…in many ways i think it’s held us back as a society…after Yeshua fed the 5,000 he knew they were gonna try to make him their king and he fled to avoid it so i’m sure he would feel a way about a religion being formed around him…

i’m just offering up the idea that “reality” isn’t limited to what we can perceive…for me, that + the experiences i’ve had (i’ve shared a couple on here; no hallucinogenic visions or anything like that) have led me to believe there’s an intangible consciousness outside of my own mind that can meaningfully impact my life if i choose to recognize it…

You're not a Christian, you just like the philosophy of Jesus. Being Christian means you believe Christ is Lord.

A Christian Atheist.... :mindblown:

But there is something to be said about reading the Bible and appreciating the stories, allegories, and parables in it. You don't have to be religious for that.

As I get older my view on who Jesus was and who He was to his people back then has changed quite a bit.
What's cool to me about the Bible is that you can see how people have been acting the same way for thousands of years, and the only thing that changes is technology.

Christ-like Atheist is the best he could get.

All those ancient texts show that humans haven't progressed as much as we'd like to think. Let the electricity and water be out for a month and watch people act a fool.

We're one famine away from societal collapse.
