took me 3.5 years. came at the right time because i was close to packing up and leaving.
but my advice is take the test and keep it in your back pocket.
i give ONE pass for this because the customers' don't know we're on our last trip...however after that one passenger does that song and dance..it's a wrap
But on the real Rahiem pretty much was spot on with his info & answers.
I will add a few things, though. 1) Don't hold the fukking doors. It's very annoying especially when we're on our last trip & are trying to get home or during rush hours when trains are running every 4 to 5 mins (on the numbered lines, plus they have the damn countdown clocks). 2) don't ask dumb questions like how to get to so & so.You have a smartphone & their are maps, USE them. Somebody actually asked me last week how to get to the welfare office![]()
Have you ever witness someone jumping into the tracks? i haven't personally, my classmate did though and he was rattled for the day
Why are there so many signal problems/ signal department
How come conductors rarely announce what's causing delays? i don't think y'all want to know what really causes some delays. just stick with "train traffic ahead of us"
Do you have beef with the people in the control rooms deciding which trains go first and what not?it's a pattern they use, i justwhen they do that.
Do bus drivers and train conductors get along? i'm cool with them
Have anyone ever tried to assault you/this one kid tried to at broadway junction. pulled back in at the last second. i had myface on
How easy or hard is the job??that goes day by day. if nobody acts up, it's a nice easy day. but the nature of this job is shyt happens so..yea
Have you ever witness someone jumping into the tracks? Thankfully no, and I pray it stays that way
Why are there so many signal problems/Signals are old
How come conductors rarely announce what's causing delays? depends on your conductor

Do bus drivers and train conductors get along? At Pelham, some of the bus drivers come in the crew room & chill
Have anyone ever tried to assault you/ Thank God no, but I heard a few of my classmates were spit on
How easy or hard is the job?? Its a simple job, but dealing with the public everyday can be a hassle
the OT to be had here is ridiculous...butWhat's the pay? I hear them old heads were making g over 6 figures ot.
the newer trains are crisp as fukk. How come the intercoms sound like shyt?
My biggest pet peeve of train conductors is just the lack of information. For example, if I'm on the E train in queens and it's going to stop at Queens Plaza where the M train on the local track is, and the e train is already super delayed due to whatever, the E train will pull up into the station, wait for the M train which is a station away, and then the M train would leave first to go to ely. The way I figure is the E train shouldnt even wait for the M train since its rush hour, and since it's a full stop away. I guess it won't be good to announce because then everyone would just go to the other train and cause a big traffic but still..
Sometimes the control center won't tell us a damn thing, that is one thing that pisses me off at times. There have been a few times where I had to ask them what's going on so that I could inform the customers. Nobody likes being delayed, especially us new yorkers.
that's the towers that's holding us. and they usually send the local trains first through shared tracks[except the C] if it was up to us, soon as i close down, we outta there, but the towers have a pattern to the madness. and that's how they decide who goes firstMy biggest pet peeve of train conductors is just the lack of information. That makes sense. The train could stop for like 5 seconds and people just start to tense up like this fukkin shyt again?
There's this book called mole people and its about how people live in the subway tunnels, particularly abandon ones, do you know if that's even remotely true?
gentrification.
the L and the G are conduits for that
