Exactly. Sympathy for those folks SMH. They were rhymin and making entertainment off of the suffering of other folks. Bragging about shooting other people, Black people at that. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Chickens coming home to roost can be applied to quite a few circumstances in life, both macro and micro.
I'm curious though, did the obligatory "he was a good boy" and "we're sick and tired of the violence" crowd get interviewed yet regarding this "story?"

Goes back to that classic question of whether or not art imitates life or vice versa? I can understand both sides of that question. These problems and the circumstances that set these issues into motion were here long before Hip Hop. Nobody ever blamed the Ohio Players for violence related to poverty, dope, gangs, and guns. It was going during their hey day too, sad to say. Still, I think folks are naive to think this current generation of Hip Hop music isnt affecting our youth. While its not the sole problem, and definitely not the root problem, it has become a contributing factor. To deny that is to be naive.

I have yet to be convinced
I would say that the act of saying inflammatory rhymes over beats should be very benign. It is to lots of people across the globe. BUT we have a cohort of people that take it super serious and follow the "logic" of the lyrics. This is a huge problem but it seems more like a problem with the ones who do stupid shyt versus being a reason to eliminate gangsta rap.
Imagine cowboy movies became popular again. Then we had a cohort of dudes dressing up in all black with a 10 gallon hat robbing trains and stealing horses. Having duels at high noon and shyt.
So the question becomes: what is it about some of us that makes us susceptible to this kind of brainwashing? There's millions of squares listening to the same stuff, going to college, making money, having healthy families.
In the end, Jungle Rules. If there was a strong enough hand controlling the hood then no one with sense would violate. Since no one is willing to clash with the gangs as a whole and overwhelm them, they run amuck. The other thing is the Kamakaze don't give a fukc attitude. Kinda like dealing with suicide bombers cause they don't back down in the face of certain doom.

I am not a hater of gangsta rap. I love some of it (as long as it's dope). I also recognize the effects.
I love booze. Can I argue that it's harmless? Can I say it hasn't affected ME in negative ways? I cannot.
