I’m guessing a massive, game breaking bug was found and was so bad that even Ubisoft said “We can’t ship this! “

the game breaking bug was that the game was slop and marketing was way ahead of production like the rest of the duds they pushed out in 2024

the fact that ubi felt they could ship outlaws and skull & bones but *not* shadows is fukking crazy

Ubisoft been everything nikkas used to think EA was for longer than their peak ever could have been at this point.
Far Cry 3 and OG AC are relics of the past, the company has fallen off, and their current leadership is full of people who aren't going to get them back on track. There is no path to improvement.
The singular hope they had was dropping AC: Japan... before Ghost of Tsushima even got made.

The word samurai (侍) is completely absent from the Steam store page except in an English blurb at the bottom, and all the Japanese instances were replaced with 一騎当千 ("Ikki tousen" - 'a warrior who can face a thousand enemies', according to the dictionary)
Presumably, because of the backlash from Japanese right wingers.
