At this point old Source Magazines are like Dead Sea Scrolls! Which issues do you own?

Going through the Fugees one from July 1997 (Cage is in this one)

I also have Doggfather Snoop from Dec 1996

And more.

Even the Redman one for Darkside and I just learned that's the exact episode with had the controversial unapproved Benzino RSO ads.

Going through these from the interviews, articles and even the ads is complete history.

What's cool is how skateboarding shoes like Ernie's and DCs were advertised and snowboard gear like Dub brand weather gear.

Bro, that
I have a bunch still at my parents crib. Lost a few throughout the years. But I had them like every month for 4 years of high school. I’d say probably around 85% I should still have
Bro, that's crazy!

What years were these?

I bought them from Dec 1996 to around 2001 I'd say. Depending if they had dope artists I liked and cool ads.

I'm 1997 one page has a silver print Gangstar logo on red background and read "New album coming soon" :whew:

I bought the 100th issue where they name the Top 100 albums and songs. Best rappers, albums, etc.

Also the 150th issue where they re-rate the 5 mic albums. Probably my favorite issue. It was informative and led me to buying classics 80s classics.

Both off ebay.

Flood killed my collection.

Only thing i have left.
from any of that early hiphop indie media era is the first copies of the hiphop fly paper.

The rest lost in numerous subsequent floods.

Art Barr
Pretty much same here as well as my vinyl collection. After over a decade, I just started buying vinyl again but do want to collect the old magazines and street DVDs. I feel like so much is being lost with time.

Every Source issue from 1990- 2006. Only missing first 8 issues. . I bought a few after that, but when trap music took over, I stopped. Teh same with XXL. I got every issue from the 1st until about 2007 and I'd buy maybe 2 a year after that. They are still producing XXL, but I don't even bother reading them in B&N. My collection is crazy. Everything from first VIBE, Ego trip, Wax poetics, rap masters, word up, Elemental, Beat Down, Stress, Rap Sheet, Rap Pages, Trace etc. One night last year, I paid my niece and cousin $300 to bag up everything I had to be bagged up that I hadn't done already(including rare horror mag collections and Slam Magazine collection from 1st issue). Over 1000 mags. My wife and mother in law helped. It was a great day with cooked food and everything  . Yeah, I knew in my teenage years....

From probably 98 until 2006/2007. After college I stopped buying plus they fell off. Originally I would buy them with allowance or I saved my lunch money for the day lol. I had a few XXL and that hip hop producer magazine too. I’ll try to get some images when I go back home

Very dope. Nah don't worry about getting images from them. Too much work and some are online. All good!

I have most issues from 94/95 to 01/02 in boxes. I haven’t looked at them in years

Dope.

Yeah, I went through some and caught the same vibe.

Some, I found flicking through them - like it took long! Some felt never ending.

Man you probably have the dope Wu Tang ones.

One issue either source or XXL has this quote where he says the ghetto is built with everything you need around you - so you don't venture out of the hood. That was so profound when I read that.

He also said the human body travels your head to wherever you want to take your brain.

I want that one not sure if any of you remember what issue that's from.
