After vol 2 he had nothing but hot singles here and there. Vol 2 was a cohesive product... sometimes I wish he never sampled annie. the commercial success of that single distorted his view of what is hot... I guess you do make more money from selling a million singles on iTunes as opposed to 250k albums...

Sometimes success is your own worst enemy
All this is true

But you know whats sad... Its that a lot of these kids who stan this nikka seem to just be happy with mediocrity n jay rippin the benefits from it....

They rather say my father figure like idol sold one million first week thru a deal with samsung than say shyt this new album is actually up there with reasonable doubt...

As long as theres demand for his garbage hell keep on tarnishin his legacy

Vindictive Hov was one of the goats. Dude was cocky and disrespectful and lyrically sharp. Dissing bytches like there was no tomorrow, surrounded by ignorant nikkas and making music that was a reflection of that.

I always said that Jay was like Rogue from xmen, because he possessed this vampiric ability of taking abilities from those around him. He surrounds himself with sauce money and he has the lyrical complexity, surrounds himself with philly nikkas and he grimy. Now he surrounded with rich Jews and fakkits like Coldplay and his current music is a reflection of that shyt.

Vol.2 & vol.3 was my least favourite jay-z. He lost his identity back then. he was trying too hard be thugged out (thanks to ruff ryders). He didn't have his own sound which made his albums feel like a collection of songs.

on the dynasty album, he started to figure out his own sound. Which led to the introduction of Just blaze and Kanye.

Just because you feel his shyt is trash now for whatever reason, it doesn't mean everyone does. Your opinion is not fact, no matter how much you want it to be.

Making blanket statements saying how everybody who supports/likes his music now are happy with mediocrity shows how insecure you are about your opinion.

The Samsung deal means jack shyt to me, as I made nothing off it, but I still like MCHG because it's dope to me. Is it anywhere close to RD? No, and I haven't heard many who feel like it is, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it for what it is.

Nas' latest shyt isn't touching his earlier works, and the same goes for Cube and every other mc in my top 5, but it doesn't mean I have to shyt on everything they do because of it.

Kingdom Come was one of the worst albums I've ever heard

He's been trash since, American Gangster was average but because it's better then his trash he's been putting put people act like it's good

Only on The Coli where you say you enjoy a Jay album are you 'on his dikk'

Christ.

Why do you think I went full troll mode today(and will going forward).....it's much more entertaining than trying to reason with these people.

Mind you many of the people in this thread refer to Justin Timberlake as TimberGOAT...

To answer this thread, Jay-Z never fell off to me. He switched up his style and then he became entirely unmotivated. Falling off is someone like 50 Cent who is failing at what he is trying to do. Jay is doing exactly what he wants to do. He knows his stature in hip hop is solidified and he doesn't put effort into most of his verses....not like he used to. MCHG basically featured him dialing back lyrics to be more direct...yet he'll give you flashes of the older Jay. That's his problem now...filler...filler...filler....flash of greatness....filler. He can still be entertaining, and is mostly, but he's never going to rap like the Black Album or American Gangster again. Quite frankly, he doesn't want to. He'll give you a Maybach Music, Light Up, Prelude, etc., when he chooses to but for the most part now he relies on his flow and delivery.

For me, seeing how he, Nas and Pac are my three favorite rappers, I still just enjoy hearing them spit. Nothing they do at this point will change their legacy.
