It was not considered a classic among Black Americans at the time of release

The video was released in the US a year late.

Mainstream went platinum on US Billboard 100 got to #2 spit but I am not seeing R and B chart US performance or Urban Radio top performance at least not initially

Netflix show Master of None put it back on the charts

Also the Karoke resurgence and hookah resurgence correlated with the songs resurgence

Chuck Booker's "Games" is the groove inspiration for "Return of the Mack." "Games" had more soul to me.

Return of the Mack kinda sounded like the commercial jingle that it became.

Both songs are classic, both are bold symbols of their era. Both instantly take you back to 1990 and 1996/97

Maybe it was because I was a kid, but I don't remember it being a mega-hit. It was never on any countdowns. I also remember it being kinda laughable to some people when it dropped. Like it was a slow burn over the years, and right around 03-04 everyone and they mom just loved the song. Throwbacks on the radio, old school runs at the club, and house parties is how I really started seeing it get the juice.
I was 17,had my 3rd job and me and my bro closet to my age both was out with our own whips. That shyt was ringing off instantly.

Not sure..I play it all the fukking time...Camp Lo Luchini too..

These are two of my most randomly played YT vids.

Mark is kinda corny. As a person. He's so butthurt and he's trying his best to stunt on a woman who shytted on him. As we all know, if she's the one who has moved on then she don't give one fukc what you're doing.

If you knew a niqqa like this you would tell him to sit down somewhere and quit worrying about the girl.. right?

But then he's so sincere with the shyt. He means that shyt. His utter will power of "I'm gonna show her!" - even if its not having any effect on her - carries this whole song.

It's a weird insecure place that all men can identify with. Either we still think like the character in the song or we did it and found out that it will never work

For me its one of those songs you hate so much you unintentionally learn every word, notice Everytime it comes on and eventually start liking it. I'm :flabbynsick: so I remember when it came out and I hated it with a passion from the start now I fukk with it
