when the surroundings around the area is a rundown ghetto and nothing else to offer why go to AC..

there is a hundred of AC casinos now in every state..

vegas offer deals left and right, sportsbook, outstanding clubs, strip clubs, shyt for families and wonderful weather, boxing and basketball events its no way others can compete.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
It's really hard for a resort city to thrive in the North East. Vegas is Vegas partly because of the weather and business friendly atmosphere. Get rid of state taxes (will NEVER happen) for starters.

New Jersey is a blood sucking state and it's hard for any business to thrive, not just AC.

I'm actually going to AC at the end of August :manny: but the beaches are :scusthov: though.

It's like this state wants their hands in nikkas pockets at every turn and want to control shyt on top of that.

I imagine the beaches to be filled with needles and vials.

I've heard the property taxes are absurd the way they're calculated.

fuuuuuuuuuu...did he recover (financial/emotionally)?
I don't know. I wasn't that close to him. I saw him during family holiday get-togethers. He was a nice guy. He moved back to Canada, where he's originally from. He ended going back to college. They have a kid and custody is shared.
She complains that he's cheap when it comes to paying for the daughter's travel between the US and Canada. Like, he'll want her to take a flight where the ticket is cheaper, but the ex-wife would have to travel a bit farther to get to the airport. She complains about that. But I'm thinking, didn't you stick him with thousands of dollars (it's speculation, I don't know the exact amount, and it could have been over $10 K ) that you gambled away?
And, she filed for bankruptcy after the divorce so she didn't pay any of the gambling losses related to her half of the credit card debt she was responsible for. So you can understand why he would be okay with going with a cheaper airline ticket. He ended up selling his car he had recently bought to pay for the debt. Since he's in Canada, he doesn't have to pay for his college tuition. So because he's going to school, she has to pay him for part-time child support. That made her upset. That's why she wants him to pay more for an airline ticket. It's one of those divorces.
A lot of drama.

Yes quite true, but everything AC claims to be good at, nearby states do just as good - if not better.

Why would I (and I still don't understand my ny brethren who do this), drive 2 hrs out of NYC to party in Atlantic City? To gamble - why you can gamble in closer areas. For the beaches - why u get the same quality on the island. For the shopping - :heh: For the girls :heh: :heh:

If I'm in Philly, why would I go to Atlantic City? To gamble - they just built a new spot. For the girls - the same white bishes in AC are from philly. For the beaches - maybe, but why waste your money on a half assed beach when you can just save up and go to a Miami/out of the US.

You can just go to Delaware to gamble.

Anything lower and you might as well just go to that cesspool called Ocean City.

All my jersey homies want to be in denial, but really the main question is WHY THE fukk WOULD I EVER WANT TO BE IN JERSEY :russ:

Upping this. Revel, which opened 2 years ago, is closing in September. 4 casinos shutting their doors in 2014 along with Trump suing Taj Majal to take his name off the building.

Sports books would be a good start to help the town. They have two directions they can go. They can Disney up the place and try to appeal more to families. Clean up the area, get more high profile restaurants, and try to get more family activities. They can also go the opposite and be the East Coast sin city and try to recapture some of what made Vegas famous originally. More adult entertainment and add a special red light district. Hell legalize weed and prostitution just in the AC limits. It'll provide revenue but that plan would only work if they clean up the surrounding areas.

That was their only hope and Christie put the lid on that a few days ago.

Cleaning up the area is going to be tough. I was there in June for a Bachelor Party, and it's only going to get worse before it gets better when you factor in 4 casino closures and all the resulting unemployment coming to that region in the next month.
