Someone else mentioned that I should voice my opinions to the event coordinator. I have to think how to tactfully say it without being offensive, but I think that would be hard to avoid since I vehemently disagree with the pandering that went on and basically thinking that the coordinator just wanted to talk about a subject he had limited context on.

Before you do that, as someone that is a part of an organization similar to 100 black men in my city, and also a member of a Divine 9, and also sit on the boards of a number of black organizations, the coli is one thing, real life is another.

Most established organizations have accepted as practice the norms of the social justice movement so trying to complain about the cis het/he him stuff is not going to go anywhere. It is established practice in all upper level black organizations so you can forget about them considering not incorporating it.

That’s the reality.

If you had an issue about the subject matter (tough love) and maybe how it was presented or how they handled the event then that’s one thing but the other little things that you said you didn’t care for will be dismissed to be honest with you.

I originally asked what city you were in because I have two cousins that are members of 100BM. They are both very prominent CEOs and the way that you described this function doesn’t sound like an organization that they would be attached to.

But they are from Atlanta and from the Atlanta chapter.

I think you said this was in Austin so Austin may be a newer chapter of 100BM and not as established or have the caliber of established members like the older and bigger cities.

Basically. Im not even sure why they’d expect that type of language/behavior at a large conference. It’s kinda like profanity warnings…you don’t expect to be told out the gate “no profanity” at a large, professional gathering because it (typically) doesn’t need to be said.

There’s a segment of the community that view black men as thoughtless brutes deserving of scorn and minor charity. Who should sit in the back while black women are championed. I’m tired of it.

If You think about it, a lot of those non-traditional black men were picked on back in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s when the superthug crack era was at its height. A lot of the ones that run these organizations still have resentment towards the 'thuggish' street adjacent breh back in the day, and all of this shaming heterosexual black men with deep voices and a masculine body build and mind frame, stems from revenge of that particular era.

Its basically a big payback to the dudes of yesteryear that were pushed in the background. I call it the "anti-Tupac" effect.

Breh I had to stop going to a barber a few months back because dude was ODing on conspiracy theories :snoop:

I remember this one barber said that the PPP Loan money being unchecked and mismanaged are an "indirect" form of reparations for Black Americans, and the closest thing that Trump did to support black people and to curse out the "Deep State" and the Establishment :why:

fukk THIS! I'm making my own damn brunch! :stopitslime:

Good luck on that endeavor fam. Much success to you. :salute:

Start off small tho like 20 people so you can vet the participants and supporters better. Then grow from there. Start off too big too soon and you run the risk of one of them new age nikkas infiltrating and turning it into something else.
