I'll admit i dont know what the deal was with her and Will Smith. But Janet HUbert may have a point depending what Jada is asking black actors to do here.

Like in the NFL when they had the lockout, the superstars who have their huge signing bonuses dont have a problem holding out and know they wont get black-balled. It's the little guys making $200K and are struggling to stay in the league that will suffer the most as negotiations drag on. So Jada and Will cant expect everyone to just blindly follow their lead.

Personally, I have a bit of problem with them not getting a Nigerian or someone of nigerian descent to play the role. Or they should have let him speak like himself and just not try the accent, period. There are many good nigerian actors in Holliwood and im sure one of them could have pulled it off. Sure the directors wanted someone of impact but i think having him struggle with the accent was a mistake.

But this is the U.S.A. and almost everything goes by color. I guess they said "fukk it black is black" and K.I.M. :pachaha:

hollywood is all about money... it was a big budget movie, so they went with the biggest name they could find ,to make sure they can make their money back... Idris would of been a better choice, but since they sent it out, will and his ppl agreed , then why not..

This whole situation is messy. Jada talking about boycotting the Oscars when Will not nominated but silent about Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, Eric Gardner, Sandra Bland, etc. Aunt Viv using the opportunity to attack Will (I guess her cult following checks ain't doing much). Opportunistic a$$holes

First time I ever heard the Smiths speak out about ANYTHING....seems a very convenient topic to take a social stand on :patrice:. Not that I have anything against them at all but if you can't see their motives are self serving then :mjlol:

She was definitely the better aunt via, but it's clear Ole girl is crazy, no one from the show fukks with her. Cast members saying she crazy.

And yall calling will a c00n why. Yall nikkas will take one statement that someone made and call them a c00n, no matter how many times you showed up in Philly donated shyt, was in stop the violence protests gave back. shyt is stupid.
That one statement said so so much though. That one statement exposed his outlook on life and proved that he's a c00n. He literally said that he doesn't think that racism is that big of a deal anymore. If believing that as a black person who clearly knows better doesn't make you a c00n, then what does? How do you even reconcile Will saying that racism in Hollywood isn't a big deal a year ago to his wife boycotting the Oscsars over racism a year later?

I see both sides of the argument. I honestly could care less who Janet Hubert is married to. That's not my business. What I took from her rant is that the Smiths aren't consistent. I can't speak on what they've done or haven't done because I honestly don't know. Everything people do isn't made public. The thing is that if you're boycotting the Oscars THIS YEAR, it should've been and should be boycotted until change occurs. This isn't the first time the Oscars have shut out Black actors and they have history of doing dirt to Black actors and actresses.

I think the biggest point she made is that there are BIGGER issues. Next year when they nominate a handful of Black actors and actresses in major categories, it'll just be a gesture to say "look, we did what you wanted us to do" and then act like everything has been rectified. There are Black producers of the Oscars and I think the president is Black. Though they aren't on the voting committee, they should be the ones that are more vocal. And by vocal I don't mean adding 300 Black people to the committee when you still have 6,000+ white males. I'm talking about a top to bottom overhaul. I'm not saying it has to be all Black, but it should be far more balanced than what it is.

:what:
Your statement is not only asinine, but completely devoid of logic. Great black men like Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte & James Earl Jones have ACTUALLY risked their own careers & lives for the advancement of African American people.

What have the "new black" power elites you're caping for like Will & Jada done for the betterment of the African American race? They're both black & married also, right? :sas1:

Sorry, but I'll take the real, actual achievements, accomplishments & positive ground work laid for the black race by people like Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte & James Earl Jones even if they're married to whites over the hot air, grandstanding & inaction of modern "new blacks" & faux Internet pro-black militants any day.

I am no way caping for them, but her doing the bedwench thing invalidates her ranting and raving as she literally is sleeping with the enemy.

Sistas and brothers that marry those with the complexion protection give up their voice with our struggle and have no room to really argue as they are contributing to racial disparities, not stopping them.

Claim natural hair movement and Marcus Garvey rhetoric and marry KKK members....
