The Fox X-Men cast returning. Nostalgia bait is one of the few ways for superhero movies to make big money in the last 5 years.
Also, with Doomsday being the first Avengers movie in over 7 years, that would've brought it some hype.
he doesn't fit with any of this. the only shyt he really had a chance of fitting in with was Midnight Sons, which they've fukked up by not making, imo. only way they can salvage that dogshyt MoonKnight, plus Werewolf by Night was great, and you get Ghost Rider into the fray. i think that would smoke Thunderbolts, etc at the box office. throw Dr. Strange in the trailer and you're good.
he was introduced in Eternals but then again the Eternals just vanish from existence lol
i mean, the woman had to come out after the fact and tell us that. no one on earth had any clue what that post credit was even if you recognized Ali's voice... but Black Knight being in Midnight Sons would have also been cool to see. that's like the best property they didn't make. they pussed out not making Strange 2 and then never got into this "horror" side. instead we've gotten the run of mid shyt we've been watching.

Nowadays, that's not the case. Nostalgia bait is pretty much the only surefire way in the 2020s.

This Avengers is being sold on the old Avengers and old characters being back. Not a single thing else
If we take out all the old characters, we'd have Captain America (Falcon), Thor and the Thunderbolts as the Avengers
I'm not saying it would be a dud.. But it would not be close to doing Avengers numbers of old. And it would not have the hype. They built that hype over decades

Agreed. The hubris that fukked over the mcu brand to begin with post-end game was thinking they could throw any ol overbudgeted bullshyt together and itd be a hit. It worked a couple times, then the good will ran out.
The danger they’re facing now is they may not have learned their lesson, bc if doomsday turns out to be overbudgeted nostalgic bullshyt, it’ll be the next avengers film (Secret Wars?) that will suffer the ramifications.
