Just finished it, the combat is straight fire :whew: hope Bethesda is taking notes, Obsidian like usual showing them how its done.

Some people will disagree but I loved the fact that it was kind of an RPG lite, simple skills tree, simple combat, no lockpick minigame BS, the inventory weight limit was kind of there just to be there but since you can send shyt to the locker it was pretty irrelevant.

Coming off like 150 hours of Persona 5 this hit the spot.

Hopefully it did well enough for a sequel.

fukk that, as a kid who grew up in the frustratingly difficult NES/SNES era, the best thing I did was continue my tradition of selecting the HIGHEST difficulty at the start of the game.

I was absolutely getting bullied by low level groups thinking I would just go to different areas and take KITH nikkas' and Xaurips' lunch money and floating through the game.

NOPE. They frustrated me and because the combat is so fukking great, instead of feeling cheated... I was on my, "Aight nikka...you gon' get yours, b" type shyt and patiently leveled up.

The story was not as intriguing to me early on. I was absolutely in love with the combat and that's what allowed me to stay with the game.

When I tell you how satisfying it feels to go after those bounties after I couldn't even touch them nikkas before... *chef's kiss*

I'm into the story now and I have put in 17 hours without even thinking.

Again, I loved Grounded and knew that Obsidian wouldn't disappoint on the gameplay.

I can understand the complaints about it not being Skyrim or Baldur's Gate.

But, outside of that? Bullshyt and exaggerated issues. That whole "anti-woke" gaming commentary some of the worst shyt to happen to gaming.

I really love this game.

Yup. Going in you expect skyrim. But soon you realize it’s a very different game and does some really great things of its own.

Honestly can’t think of any other WRPG that actually has “good” combat.

We usually accept that combat in this style of game is bad or serviceable at best. In avowed the combat is legit really good, had me looking for fights instead of being annoyed by them like in other games like this.

Also exploration is great, the levels are very dense with lots of verticality so instead of just crossing miles of flat land looking for a dungeon you are always engaged in discovering secret areas or platforming challenges.

Games discourse is broken in 2025. Everything is hype/hate for clicks.

This game is just pure moment to moment fun.

As a big fan of WRPG games it’s a breath of fresh air just to get out there and have fun exploring and fighting, something lots of games put on the back burner nowadays in pursuit of cinematics or storytelling.

Great game, i’m just finishing up the second area with like 45 hours so far.

I’ve been clearing and finding pretty much everything cause it’s just so much fun to play the game.

Is that what you're saying or is that what "people" have been saying?

Yesterday I ran into a friend at 7-11 and we eventually began talking about gaming. I asked if he played Avowed yet and he said he wasn't interested because it was too woke for him. I basically was on the way out when he said that and I kept it moving but I wanted to inquire deeper into what he meant by that. Cuz Woke means awake, aware of the traps the demons set. The recognition of white supremacy and its impact on society

I know they trying to control the narrative and make it mean black and gays, I choose not to use their definitions :manny:

That is my feeling. I hate how white people have co-opted "woke."

I only used it so we all could understand what I was exactly referencing.

I found myself 100%ing the first two maps but by the time I got to the third, I was ready for the game to be over :francis:. Ended up beelining the main-story from the third map to completion, otherwise I would’ve ended up dropping the game. Combat was extremely fun but the story and writing didn't really grip me. My biggest gripe was the stinginess with skill points. Overall a cool lil experience.
