Man I was skipping through the interview and got to a part where Mecca asked how come you weren't on more albums people wanted you on. You could tell AZ was annoyed by the question but he played along and asked which albums. And Mecca said OB4CL lmao. Up to that point, no non-Wu member had been on their albums. Nas was the first to do it on that album. So why would anyone in 1995 expect AZ to be on there, or be disappointed that he wasn't? It makes no sense, dude just talking to talk. I hate how he constantly just disrespects guests with these weird statements or questions. Also asked if AZ was a recluse. Is this how you treat a legend?

It’s something about math hoffa that just seems feminine to me.
Am I the only one who gets confused when men express things like this?

What are you trying to say?

Do you think Math Hoffa is secretly a woman?

Do you hate women & Math Hoffa so they are one and the same?

Why do you want to sexualize this conversation?? :hhh:

AZ serving up reality checks causing befuddlement and insecurity throughout until the interview cuts abruptly

You're right.

From what I saw these interviewers are very uncomfortable around AZ and rightfully so.

This show had some completely backwards people on it. Anti-family steez.

AZ straight checked Math Hoffa for saying AZ is better than Rakim who AZ was inspired by. AZ looks at him and says that's blasphemous. Half joking, but alot of truth is said in jest.

Why does Math Hoffa have his video at the start of all these interviews like it's using their name to promote him?

I respect Math for recording, but he comes across as a bully at times. Like Ebro did to Buckshot and even Riff Raff. Riff is original and not in the same lane.

But I Iost all respect for Ebro when he tried to play Buck. Same with Charlamagne trying to play Onyx.

Bully podcasters vs real, very authentic artists. It's like the podcasters hit brick walls.

Good luck.

Yeah he checked them and they definitely just pulled the purple tape out of thin air

I’ve always said I feel wise when I listen to an AZ album

Watching this interview——and seeing the title you chose ——really shows how far left we’ve veered. Nggas don’t even notice that cats nowadays speak in clickbait, gossipy, antagonistic ways. It takes seeing someone like AZ who’s not in the matrix not trying to impress etc to see how weird nggas have become in comparison

I said it in the official thread that they dropped the ball on this AZ interview. An artist the stature of and with the history AZ had needed to have the interview centered around HIM. There’s a way to ask all of those questions in a natural organic way without coming off so chatty patty and fishing for drama. I know AZ is guarded because of his old school OG New York upbringing but there’s a way to make him feel comfortable and open up and thats by making the interview about HIM and his career and making Nas and the The Firm supplementary to his story instead of the main course. Like seriously barely any questions about Doe or Die and how the success of the Sugar Hill may have given him leverage when it came to his placement in the Firm? Sugar Hill went Platinum at a time when rap singles weren’t doing that regularly, that should have been the focus of an entire segment. How did his hood take to the single? How did he handle the fame that came with that? How did his mentality change from “this is just a hobby” to “I’m a bonafide rap star now!” ? They didn’t even center the Firm situation correctly. It SHOULD have been “So Nas is coming off a double platinum album. Foxy is primed to blow. YOU are coming off a platinum single and Gold album. How did it feel to go from an unknown with one hot guest verse to now being a star forming your own supergroup?”

Like seriously this is basic level shyt.

I try to support all the rappers and fans making rap shows. But, this is why Hip-Hop needs real journalists.

A lot of the reaction I've seen to the full interview has been people acting like AZ was in the wrong and that he came off arrogant, stand-offish, rude
I notice that in my own life…when you don’t partake in the backbiting and gossip and chatty party activities you will get an “he’s conceited, he arrogant, he thinks he’s better than everybody” stamp on you, even amongst family, shyt is weird. Jay-z nipped it in the bud perfectly..

nahhhh Imma disagree with ya'll. I love AZ as an artist, but dont show up to a platform like this and give 5 word responses then act like everybody else is the weirdo. He never seen the show before?

You weren't ambushed at the mall by TMZ my nikka... you pulled up, voluntarily, for a sit-down conversation. Let's not act like every episode is on some chatty patty shyt too. One of my favorite episodes of MEO was Mic Geronimo's. I walked away feeling like I knew breh more as a human being.

This is an opportunity where as a man, you can show vulnerability, talk about your wins/losses, mental health, speak on life lessons for the next generation, etc.

I do agree Math and Mecca could have asked better questions...Bag Fuel episode was a bit better, but both were disappointing imo.

I think it's both. Math and crew try to get chatty patty but AZ was also just not engaged, giving very short answers that made him seem too cool to be there.

Also, AZ didn't have a gun to his head to be there so if don't fukk with them, just don't show up.

:manny:

I was surprised to see AZ on my expert opinion, seems right after bag fuel.

I wonder if he was acting this way because he did the interview with them first.

That wasn't weird to y'all?

I think most of the complaints about Mecca exist because of his nasally voice and his "insider" takes. I don't find that he's incorrect all that often. The show is lacking in hip-hop knowledge, he's bringing most of it to the table. He doesn't go out of his way to big himself up, or take credit for anything. It's mostly his tone.

Math is just being lazy with the questions. I guess right now keeping the money rolling is more important than a quality AZ interview.

Mecca crying and harping on the Firm shyt was annoying and unnecessary considering AZ shut it down as POLITELY as he could and Mecca wasn’t bringing anything new to the topic. Like even his hypotheticals were annoying, talking about they could get $50 Million like nikka who the fukk does he think AZ, Foxy, and Nas are?!?! A Taylor Swift, Ariane Grande and Olivia Rodrigo album is getting $50 Million in today’s climate. Foxy hasn’t put out an album in TWENTY TWO YEARS. Cormega is dropping solid music but he’s independent. AZ JUST is getting back in the game after an absence and Nas as the biggest name and seller would basically be “carrying” them for them to only sell what? 20-30K units first week? 20-30k might be good for them individually but to split four ways and then split tour money doesn’t make a lot of sense in 2023 when Nas can sell out MSG by HIMSELF or go on a sold out tour with Wu-Tang and make hundreds of thousands of dollars. From a business perspective a Firm reunion doesn’t really make sense

Not to mention that anybody with a brain knows The Firm flopped way back in 1997. Nobody has ever been clamoring for another Firm album. We realize it should have been executed better. Only someone who wasn’t there or doesn’t truly know what he’s talking about would take that fake fanboy angle.

Honestly all dem dudes are corny to me. Old and out of touch. They have good guests and have a formula but egos ruined the show already. Now it’s full of yes men and less substance
