Doe or Die is a classic and one of the best mafioso albums. If AZ were a bigger name it would be an undisputed classic IJS.

AZ is past his prime? my man you need some XXL q-tips then

"I'm too ahead of my time to be a has-been.." :whew: -AZ on "We Movin" first single off Doe or Die 2

when it comes to sequels the only ones I know of are raekwon and cnn's. both were dope as fukk so I don't see the issue.
I certainly hope you're right, but I haven't really enjoyed an AZ album in a while.

There have been a lot more rumored than actually made, but I think naming an album after by far your best work (especially when it's so far in the past) is setting unrealistic expectations.

It’s panning out the way I hoped it would.

Wasn't he originally trying to get Dre and Kanye :heh:

He should try to get a RZA beat.

RZA's remix of Doe Or Die is slept on. Classic joint.

I always liked AZ over gutter beats. He generally tends to rap over smoother stuff but tracks like Uncut Raw are some of his best.

AZ is cool, and I actually have both of those albums in their physical CD form. but neither of them are anything close to what I'd condier a classic.

True, I'd still give his debut around 4-4.5 and his 2nd LP about a 3.5-4 the rest of his catalog is hit or miss but overall I think AZ has had a pretty good career as far as quality songs and features. To me he's one of the most underrated rappers from Brooklyn.

the original doe or die is definetly a classic, i dont know wtf you other dudes are talking about. i'm not a big fan of part 2 albums either, but if anyone can pull it off, az is one of only a handful of rappers who can still spit like they did on their best release.

I don't knock anyone feeling it's Classic, like I said I'd probably give it a 4.5 and it was one of the most important mafioso albums during that time but AZ was just outshinned by Big, Jay, NaS and Rae albums. Like I said, he's clearly an underrated emcee.

I sense the essence of Larry Holmes will be all over this project, but I hope he has a few bangers on it.

Can we get some producers that aren't :flabbynsick:?

Alchemist and Harry Fraud on the boards would be :ohlawd:

off the top I can't name other sequels besides the ones I've mentioned. feel free to list some more I'm forgetting about.

a rose by any other name is still a rose. really excellent albums or classic/borderline classcs are what they are. naming something a sequel I personally believe it makes the artist work harder to live up to the expectation they think fans want.

I sense the essence of Larry Holmes will be all over this project, but I hope he has a few bangers on it.

this phrase reeks of the essence of stupidity.

yeah he was tryin to get kanye and dre but they both shunned him for the doe or die anniversary album. honestly the only reason raekwon got some dre beats for his sequel is because of busta rhymes.

kanye is in outerspace somewhere so I'm not shocked he ignored AZ.

as far as the soul beats, doe or die 15th has plenty and they all sound dope so he didn't need kanye in the end. something soulful like "we movin" proves he still doesn't.

I do agree about those hard beats for AZ. whenever he raps with raekwon you know its gonna be a classic and those beats are always :wow:

all I want is a mo money mo murder pt 2 with nas. id also take that firm reunion as well, he announced it on twitter years ago.
