you can't be a public figure and slander another public figures name, you can damage their reputation and potentially cause them to lose money in the future.

I believe defamation requires a false statement. Plus she would have to prove the false statement damaged her reputation.

but this case is extremely similar to the sean penn/lee daniels lawsuit
lee daniels called sean penn a woman beater during an interview and sean penn wasn't having it

Either way, both of them are gonna have to prove damages. Especially for SP, what was the impact of that statement? Are people going to testify they didn't offer him roles or want to do business because of that statement?
