You get it. The entire "Intersectionality should be represented in media!" nonsense is why you get terrible products.

Most people wouldn't care if say, in God of War (Norse version), you had a black character walking around. It's when they are a black queer communist shouting at Odin that the Valkyries are underrepresented and oppressed that the game suffers. Art like videogames requires the audience to suspend their disbelief. When the writers keep breaking that suspension and jarring you back to reality it rarely works well.

FWIW the article calls out queer storylines in particular as stories that are facing pressure by game devs, not black stories..and frankly I'd like to see some receipts because being gay is pretty accepted and even celebrated by wide swaths of western civilization. The Coli is more homophobic than the average American city lol.

Of course we need more games with black leads. We need to buy Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra when it comes out in January.

In the West for sure....but I was on the AC Shadows reddit recently and came across something interesting.

Some dude from the Philippines visited the UAE and bought a copy of ACS while he was there. In the game, you have the option of having both straight and gay/lesbian relationships. He wanted the female protagonist to romance another female but the option wasn't in the game.

Come to find out, it's because of where he bought it. They took out the lesbian/gay dialogue options because he had a copy from the Middle East...but all that would have been included if he got the game from the U.S., UK, Canada etc.

Wonder if we will see more shyt like that.
