This is breaking me up.
She needs to get on her other two kids so that this isn't their fate as well. Unfortunately big bro probably influencing them.
How has this school not been investigated by the board? The graduation rates must be horrible if he is still better than a majority of kids.

I completely agree with you that the mother failed her kid but I put even more blame on the school. Maybe 60-40.
You are in school eight plus hours a day. he’s in school more than he sees his family.
They have paid teachers, counselors, social workers, paras and host of other people there, who’s main job is to help. Where all of those services exhausted?
Yes the mother has some accountability but I feel more needed to be done by the school.
A teachers job is to teach. If they see a kid isn't getting the curriculum what is the next thing those educators did?
Now if you tell me they exhausted all options and contacted the mother multiple times, then yes the blame is squarely on her. But I don’t believe they did.
If a kids fails, so did the teacher.

Social promotion. To be fair, I didn't know it still existed. Apparently school systems are still using it to no one's benefit. This story is an all around failure.

It rightfully places the Baltimore City Schools system under the microscope. He was in the top half of his class with a .13 GPA. The top half. This is an institutional failure that has to be investigated.

I was thinking the same thing. It's good to sound the alarm, but I wouldn't allow them to use my name or picture in the article. Now everybody will judge her & the entire family. Her two other kids could have straight A's & they will have to hear about this for a while. Sad and suprising that people put that much faith in a distressed school system.why would she go to the news with this.

Btw every adult in this kid’s life failed him. They all should take the blame from the mother to the school and everybody in between. This is why I get mad when some of you talk about how degenerates need to be exterminated from the community and all that other bullshyt y’all say. This kid and many more like him don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell from BIRTH. This is how they get caught up in street life. He has no guidance. His mother can’t do it. She’s working 3 jobs just to keep a roof over their head. School system treating kids like they on a assembly line

Mom's is a loser too. Hard worker (evident by her work history) but loser as a parent. If she didn't call the school one time or look at a report card 1 time in 4 fukking years...there's no excuse. There's no "I didn't get it...." "They never sent it...." "They never called...." "My son never gave it to me...." "My son never told me....."
That's when you as a parent take initiative. Get your ass up to the school. Motherfukkers love not going to their kids school then when something happens they're up at the school faster than a rabbit gets fukked.
