Pac could hold his own with the best of them, people actin' like he couldn't write dope and lyrical verses....go check Troublesome 96 and come back.

But, he himself said that he would rather deliver his message in his records than try to sound lyrical. And if he hadn't done that, he wouldn't have been so popular as he is to this day.

I'm just quoting Jay Z lyrics in both of those posts.
I don't believe he's the GOAT but only because I don't believe there can be one, he's my personal GOAT.

'Pac doesn't get enough recognition for using multiple rhymes in bars, iambic pentameter, flow, rapping technique, etc that other rappers get dues for.

this i mean i could bold the multis and all that and go to other details on how technically sound he was and is but most of these nikkas be on that bullshyt and just start trolling so it's just a waste a time of really imo.

Also people in this thread once again failing to understand the difference between lyrical and technical

Assessing how "lyrical" is more of a subjective measure.

Def: an artist's expression of emotion in an imaginative and beautiful way; the quality of being lyrical.

So contrary to popular belief, Pac is deemed very lyrical because his lyrics touch people in a certain way, they evoke certain emotions out of the listener, and Pac does this better than most artists. Of course, the effectiveness of one's writings on paper is accentuated by their delivery and voice, but we have to ignore that when focusing purely on lyricism.

But then again, since it is subjective, what resonates with one person might not with someone else. So Pac could be lyrical to some but not to others. But I think you guys keep talking out your ass when you say he isn't lyrical because you're confusing it with him not being "technical", which he still is. Granted, he isn't as technical as someone like Pharoahe Monch, but he's got some stuff.

"Technical" is literally the use of poetic techniques inc. wordplay, similes, metaphors and everyone's favourite: RHYME SCHEMES. This is more objective because you can look at a verse and spot out as many technical devices as possible and make your determinations from there.

Learn the difference people, and stop spouting bullshyt.

If Pac could be surpassed bar for bar is debatable, if somebody thought Pac was the best lyricist it's not something I'd be mad at all cause he was so potent and people underrate that as a skill too, he uses the right words most of the time and that's an extremely important part too, to create the right moods and emotion, Pac was extremely effective. I would say K-Rino lyrically is in that category of absolute elite lyricists because he can do the effective shyt or be more complex when necessary, my pick for the best lyricist would be K-Rino but Pac is also a good choice, I probably give the edge to K for body of work lyrically cause he has so much material that is lyrically absolutely incredible, and amazing, K is someone I've listened to and the lyrics have regularly made me like damnn.... On some rewind shyt, Pac didn't really have that as much, definitely rewind shyt but not because of the lyrical excellence in that sense, but Pac was just brilliant as a lyricist and writer, he is extremely underrated and to me better than nearly every other so called lyricist and what he did is much harder than it seems. I appreciate Pac lyrically more and more as time goes by, the brother was a genuis to me, we were blessed to have Pac as a part of the culture do his contributions artistically.
