If I wasn't in a relationship, I'd fully apply for a 12 month remote working visa. Living in Barbados on a British salary (and no local income tax) would be heavenly :banderas:
:ld: fam...sorry to break it to you but they wipe their battycreases with our pound notes.

The pound coin means fucc all over there. Your pockets will get rinsed. It's extremely expensive over there.

If you can make it work though, do it :manny:

Barbados is one of the most expensive Caribbean islands, good luck on that.

I found Jamaica to be more expensive and I managed alright out there. Food shopping worked out to be ~2.5x more than shopping in London but other than that, it wasn’t too bad :manny:

I know about Haiti, but unfortunately the language barrier and the fact that white people are hell bent on making an exampke out of Haiti makes them out of my preffered places. Also Haiti is quite far from the rest of the West Indies, or at least that that's been my perception.

:dahell: If you think Haiti is far from the rest of the islands, have you looked on a map to see where Jamaica is?

Above the fray.
One interesting item though, if you aren't staying in a hotel and you have some place you can cook, is that you can buy a meat license and bring that with you. I usually get a bunch of frozen steaks and salmon and take down to BBQ.

This clip is taken from a panel about South Carolina/Barbados ties, hosted by the US Embassy in Bridgetown.

Person in the chat asked about common last names shared between Carolinians and Bajans

The name that stood out for sports reasons is Middleton, as in Kris Middleton from the recent NBA Finals. Looked it up, and yes.....he was born right in Charleston, SC.

Brathwaite is Fab Five Freddy's last name, and his paternal roots are Barbados.

Far in terms of what? Geography? If that’s the case Jamaica, The Cayman Islands and Bermuda must not be in the Caribbean.

One good thing about Haiti is that because it’s surrounded by many different ex colonizers the people there are able to speak several languages even before coming to the US sometimes. My parents can speak 3 languages and I knew a girl who could speak 4.

Man it does feel nice to hear my island being held in such high regard by others:ehh:.
My people are Jamaican and the comparison on almost every level is embarrassing. Intelligent forward thinking PM and infrastructure in Barbados with degeneracy, criminality, and backwardness going on in JA right now.
Motley is a very impressive leader.

Meh. Jamaica still has the resources to thrive if their politicians stop being a$$holes.

I was surprised a year or two back when the Jamaican PM sided with Trump and against the Caricom in the matter of Venezuela.

Was a sad day.
