I have roughly 2 months left until I'm done with Barber school.

Of course, I'm thinking future plans. Not really interested in owning a shop, I just want to get really good. I'm thinking either working at Great Clips or on base at the PX to get better at haircutting.

Any Barbers out there, what did you do once graduation hit and you got your license?

Great Clips huh? :mjpls:

I know, it sounded lame as soon as I typed it out and posted it.
:francis:

I'm stressing, but I think it is more of a life change thing. There are enough Barber shops, I would rather get really good as opposed to learning how to cut hair quickly and do a shyt job.

I know you feel this way now, but it's always better to own your own shyt.

Then also have a few other guys come apprentice under you at your own facility as well.

I'm not a barber, but I know a little business.

Might as well take advantage of that VA business loan. All this stuff seems really daunting, if that makes sense?

shyt, my last real job was the Military until I retired from there.

Breh I was HEATED when I saw the first response :mjlol:

Happy to see you were joking :russ:

Not a barber but it’s important to be able to cut anybody that happens to walk in. Try and work in an area that will see customers of different races/backgrounds.

Another thing to consider for the future is a mobile set up (depends on your city’s laws etc). If that were possible I’d set up near the club and tax mfers for 5 minute line ups. You know they’ll pay too.

Great clips :dahell:

I’m not sure if you’re white or black :patrice:

Ima go the black route... I’d say try to find a chair in someone’s shop. I think it’s usually a 50/50 split? Maybe 60/40 their way at first. Clientele will be low at first but Spring break summer is right around the corner. In the mean time advertise an in/house service on social media for the low. $5-$10 house cut for those with low pockets will get some money in your hand

You know I had to give that typical coli response
:lolbron:

But your absolutely right. The breh needs to learn to cut all types of hair and deal with various clientele. It will not only give him experience but he can build a solid base

The two are not mutually exclusive. You can do a shyt job while cutting in somebody else’s shop, and you can be really good in your own shop. But if you just dont have the mentality to own then thats diffrrent.
