I believe money is speech as an absolute. It has been the foundation black political movements most famously the Montgomery bus boycott (today Target)Trump was significantly out donated when it came to small donations. A few billionaires gave him the money to compete and he’s been paying them back to the detriment of everyone else ever since. Super PACs subvert democracy by allowing a few to have too much power. Money isn’t political speech.

Explain to me how this disproves or pushes back on my statement that the side that spent the most to win, loss.Trumps entire cofers and structure was run by billionaires and corporations. For example mariam adelson elon musk and tpusa handled the local level side. Democrats had small dollar donations largely making up their balances

I dont completely disagree with your analysis, but im old enough to have seen this '[insert political party] is finished' movie several times. The republicans have no plan past 2028, they are political crash outs doing everything they can because they can, and they don’t expect to be held accountable.
Because this ignores how Trump was given extraordinary amounts of free amplification that would have cost enormous sums of money if it had been purchased as advertising. Elon Musk turned Twitter/X into Trump HQ (and was rewarded for it). Sinclair networks, Fox, Newsmax, and other legacy media outlets regularly framed Trump and his campaign messaging in ways that functioned as sustained political promotion, which would have also cost large sums of money. Podcast networks and online, independent media ecosystems did this as well.Explain to me how this disproves or pushes back on my statement that the side that spent the most to win, loss.
Cause it sounds like tilted "i really hate billionaires' babble.
What am I missing?

they aren't even gonna put on appearances this timei think boycotting isn’t the same as money being speech. Boycotting is an action, a choice. You as an individual can boycott but it is a collective boycotts of many that has an effect. Someone who has a billion dollars donating 100 million to get their guy in so they can get 300 million in government contracts isn’t speech. It’s quid pro quo.I believe money is speech as an absolute. It has been the foundation black political movements most famously the Montgomery bus boycott (today Target)
IMO all roads lead back to the duopoly we are stuck in. It is the fundamental issue with American politics from which every other issue stems and/or persist.
I am actually ok with this. The issue is if someone paid those companies to run these adds. It’s quid pro quo if I spend millions on a candidate and they do me favors. All we’ve seen is that Trump is focused on doing these people favors.Because this ignores how Trump was given extraordinary amounts of free amplification that would have cost enormous sums of money if it had been purchased as advertising. The same thing that happened in 2016.
I didn’t say they were dead. I just think 26 & 28 are going to be massacres for them politically. I could see them losing the house and the senate, the democrats are also looking at state houses for once too. There is a lot of signs that there will be a national rebuke of Republicans.I dont completely disagree with your analysis, but im old enough to have seen this '[insert political party] is finished' movie several times.
The duopoly relies on both parties...
Neither is going anywhere, and the political pendulum will continue to swing.
So the pendulum swings back and what happened to dems happens to republicans. Sounds about right.I didn’t say they were dead. I just think 26 & 28 are going to be massacres for them politically. Ok, I'm with you, how would getting money out of politics (or whatever is being proposed) address Elon using his platform to promote his candidate/views for free?Because this ignores how Trump was given extraordinary amounts of free amplification that would have cost enormous sums of money if it had been purchased as advertising. That kind of influence falls outside of traditional campaign finance rules, so it might be harder to regulate it directly. Reducing it would probably require a mix of stronger platform transparency, rules targeting algorithmic amplification, and breaking up media concentration, so no single billionaire or corporation can dominate the information landscape. It probably won't be easy, and will take true political will, but tackling it should be part of the bigger goal of reducing undue political influence across the board.Ok, I'm with you, how would getting money out of politics (or whatever is being proposed) address Elon using his platform to promote his candidate/views for free?![]()

I am thinking this matches what happened after the ACA was passed but worse. Which is why republicans are retiring. Whats the point of doing all that work, spending a ton of your own money, and still losing? So the pendulum swings back and what happened to dems happens to republicans. Sounds about right.
