but that's whats crazy ... some things .. I need the book.. theres a different experience with the book that on a tablet..

I agree, but I've recently gotten back into reading and I've honestly done it due to the ability to read off my phone. The idea of going to a library to get a book these days is just not realistic to me anymore.......plus when I ride to work I can put on the read aloud and it plays back to me

word like blockbuster. i heard they had the opportunity to purchase netflix before it became the monster that it is.

and they passed...:wow:

adapt or die off

Netflix didn’t real kill blockbuster. Streaming and dumb ass late fees did

Redbox was the last blow and Netflix came to collect the body

That's what I'm saying.

I couldn't imagine going through college with a Kindle. I'm mainly thinking about my stem classes

Outdated business model combined with the failure to adapt to the digital space in a timely manner. I love reading books and will never forget the simple joys of going in there for Textbooks for college because our bookstore was too expensive for us broke undergrads.

I can't tell you how many books and magazines I would spend hours reading at Borders, who at one point in time was their main competitor.

If I were B&N, I would have purchased a small player in the digital content sharing platform like Scribd.

After working there and seeing how it operated, I would’ve condensed the entire network of stores into only a handful of stores per metro area. Instead of 10 B&N stores in the Philly area, there should be 2 tops. Instead build a giant warehouse distribution center in each major metro area stocked with books. Hire drivers and warehouse stockers. Offer same day home delivery with the drivers delivering the books daily like Postmates or Uber. Repeat throughout the country. Of course I was an hourly employee so my opinion wasn’t worth shyt to them :russ:

I mean shyt, how quickly do you read books or how many do you need at once? One or two tops should hold down any flight regardless of how long...both ways... and that's before considering most airports sell books as well
I feel where you coming from and I agree, but people wanna have choices, that's what it's about. Like music in your phone people want libraries and shyt. Sometimes I need the physical books but tech has changed the game.

Ya literally all this is not true
Most these companies are run by short sighted executives. Many of these companies were in positions where if they simply paid attention to where markets were going and innovation we wouldnt be seeing these types of things.

Its not like years ago these companies tried new things and failed, most of these companies are still using their initial business model they just have more locations.

The sad part about it is Borders and Barnes & Noble tried to work with Amazon in the 90s when they were small instead of just killing the business before it got too big. Borders partnered with Amazon because they were too stupid to build a website. They both could’ve easily got online in the 90s and destroyed Bezos but no company wants to sacrifice their earnings even though the future is staring right at them and telling them to adapt.

In any decent society, Amazon would be put in check real quick. Break up the banks applies to overreaching mega-companies too.

Google gobbles up google like entitiies. Google does not gobble up your local grocery store, the taxis, the new food company that delivers meals you can cook...

Amazon is fukking evil.

I love Barnes & Nobles. There's a dope one off of Cobb Parkway in Marietta. I keep saying I need to stop by, it's been a little while since I was there last, but that store is always full of customers.
