Nas

I felt he has been the most consistent rapper in dropping high quality music from album to album. His beats tho, good lord some of the beats he's chosen though can and should be questioned.

And personally, the 2nd CD of Street's Disciple had A LOT of filler

Nas has released the same album over & over since the late 90's. The content is different, but the delivery & sound isn't. I know yall love him but dude is not even a legit candidate, irl you bring up Nas in the same conversation as Pac & Hov & nikkas gon look at you crazy.

Nah, Nas is always in the conversation in real life.

Distant Relatives, God's Son & Stillmatic are all pretty different sounding albums. Even Hip Hop Is Dead.

Dude is a candidate. He's the best writer in terms of hip hop verses ever by a good long shot. It's a shame his beat/feature selection are so terrible, and sometimes he writes mediocre hooks. It's true that I don't know any Nas stans like the ones you find on here though.

what are we talkin' bout when we say music? just hip hop? and if so, are we speakin' from an mc's perspective?

cause if it's from strictly an mc's point of view than it's rakim; his run from paid in full to don't sweat the technique is astonishin'. i ain't never been more impressed by an mc's flow, delivery, voice, rhymes, songs and albums than rakim.

now if it's from all around artist's point of view, then i'm going with dr. dre. the first chronic alone is that much of a classic and enough for me for him to the greatest of all time. chronic 2001 is just goin' that extra mile when it ain't even necessary.

but if we talkin' bout all music genres across the board then it's a tie between:

1.a curtis mayfield and 1.b barry white, for me
