I get your confusion, I thought people would understand the distinction I was making by saying "on the spot".

Criminals understand that if and when they are caught, they will be arrested and caged and later sentenced to life in prison or if in a state like Louisiana, the death penalty even. I'm suggesting that the process be sped up a bit. The moment they are caught, they should be tried on the spot and sentenced (to death) on the spot.

:manny:

I've said it before but I'll say it again. When it comes to crimes like this, the victim's family should be allotted 30 minutes in a locked room with the perpetrator tied to a chair and the free use of baseball bats. Potential life sentences or long, drawn out death penalties aren't enough nor any kind of real deterrent anymore. But I'm willing to bet people would be more willing to rethink think their fleeting homicidal impulses if instead of prison, the consequence was getting bludgeoned to death.

You just know they inject, hang, shoot or electrecute in places like Baton Rouge. No way he'll be allowed to live out his days.
